The Red Maple Tree was planted on the school property near the front entrance way. Minister describes South Africa Rev. Tolmay spoke at a recent Thames Road UCW meeting. Rhoda Rohde Thames Road correspondent THAMES ROAD - The Thanks- giving meeting of the Thames Road U.C.W. was held Monday evening in the fellowship hall of the church. Sharon Passmore welcomed nine women from Elimville and 29 from Thames Road and guest speaker Rev. Jock Tolmay. Anne Bray gave a reading ",Let Us Be Thankful". Passmore introduced Rev. Jock Tolmay who gave the history of South Africa where he was born, as well as his wife Pam and their two sons. He also showed pictures and ex- plained about them. He gave a very informative talk and had a lot of different plants. He was thanked by Jo -Anne Rowe and presented with a gift. An invitation was read from Woodham U.C.W. inviting Thames Road U.C.W. to their meeting on November 6. Rev. Jock Tolmay was in charge of the regular church service on Sunday morning. The church was decorated with stalks of corn tied with orange bows, sheaf of wheat, pumpkins, a lot of different vegetables, gourds and mums, colored leaves, etc. The decorating committee did a good job. Next Sunday, October 20 at 11 a.m. is the Thames Road Church Anniversary. Rev. Heather Smith of Centralia is the guest minister and special music will be provided by Marlene Thornton of Exeter. On October 25 a Messenger Hal- loween Party is planned at 6:30 p.m. at Thames Road. Parents are to bring a snack. On October 27 at 10 a.m. is Elimville Church Anniversary.. Guest minister will be Rev. Sheila Macgregor. There will be no ser- vices at Thames Road. Personals Dave and Brenda Moran, Bren- dan and Allyssa of Toronto, Ron and Wendy Earle and Ryan of Lon- don were Sunday guests with Lorne and Pat Ballantyne. Dave and Donna Van Allen, Ra- chel, Tyler and Sarah of Crosshill were Sunday guests with Margaret Stewart of Exeter. Bill and Rhoda Rohde were Sun- day supper guests with Doug and Judy Rohde and girls of Exeter.
