Please explain the reasons for the different ingredients in cough and cold preparations. A. Antihistamines, (chlorpheniramine, loratidime) are included to relieve the allergy type symptoms of sneezing, watery eyes, and runny noses. Some of these may cause drowsiness and may not be present in "daytime" preparations. Expectorants (guaifenesin) are used for coughs with phlegm, (wet cough). They help to thin and loosen the phlegm so that it can be cleared more easily. Cough suppressants (dextromethurpham) are used to quiet those dry, hacking coughs which may be disturbing sleep or upsetting ones normal daily functions. ItHURON APOTHECARY Ltd. 'Your Health Care .Pharmacy' 440 MAIN ST. 235-4982 APPLIANCE CENTRE Q. Do dishwashers completely clean or should I always rinse first? A. Dishwashers and how well they clean are affected by a number of factors including water softness, water pressure, loading technique, type of detergent etc. The standard rule of thumb is , scrape the dishes very well, so that no large debris is left, and only rinse well if the dishes will not be washed for a long period of time, (ie2-3 days). Also , occasional flushing of the dishwasher with vinegar can help extend the washing life of you machine. For further information on the subject feel free to call us, or drop in. Whet is a difference between Pro - Logic and AC -.3 amplifiers? A In a Pro -Logic amplifier, sound is separated into 4 separate channels. There are 2 front speakers, which handle the bulk of the movie's sound, a center channel, which sits on the TV and helps to express the movie's dialogue more clearly, and there are two rear speakers which operate in a mono channel to provide the effect noises or to provide transition of sound from the front to the back of the sonic landscape. In an AC -3 amplifier, sound is separated into six individual channels. There are still 2 front speakers, 1 center channel, and 2 rear channel speakers, however, in AC -3, the 2 rear effect speakers are separated into their own individual channels, as well as the addition of a separate subwoofer cannel. Some Pro -Logic amplifiers have a subwoofer pre -out on them, but it is NOT a separate channel, but merely a matrix mix of all the channels. By adding these extra charnels, the surround experience has superior imaging, uses the full 20Hz to 20 kHz with more discreet sound placement than previous Pro -Logic models using only 100 Hz to 7 kHz. A A 'quality mutual fund' may be 'gifted' or held 'in trust' by their parents for their children's education. Although this method is not eligible for a tax deduction, a 'better rate of return' is possible. When gifted, the earnings on the investment are taxable in the hands of the child (could be zero). However, the parent loses control over this money. When held 'in trust' Parents maintain control over the money with minimal tax implications. This has proven to be an excellent method for parents saving for an education. An actual client invested 89,000 (Jan.'89), has since redeemed 811,000 and still has 58,000 left. Mutual funds are sold by prospectus. Unit or share value and investment return will fluctuate. What funeral services can be selected if cremation is chosen? A. Cremation does not limit the funeral services that may be chosen. The same options available with earth burial are available with cremation. Some of these choices include: the type of casket, the location of the funeral service, the selection of music, an open casket, and a display of photographs, awards or personal effects. Embalming is not mandatory, however, some circumstances may require it. Discuss this issue with your funeral director. just as you may go to the cemetery for the earth burial, you may wish to go in a procession to the crematorium and have a closing ceremony there. Family members may be present at the cremation depending on the crematorium's policy. If this desired, contact your funeral director.
