Max Ducharme and the "Town
Liners" will be visiting the Horne
on September 26 and the Home

dent/Family Dinner on Sunday, De-
cember 1.
The following is a poein by resi-
dent Philippa Steckle:
Tribute to Vera W.
Oh, dead and barren poplar tree,
A lady stood and gazed on thee,
As we strolled along the wooded
ridge,
That overlooks the tiny bridge.
And as we gazed,
"In sooth" said she,
"If I could but a poet be,
1'd write a sonnet to yon tree."
Perhaps, she mused, on days gone
hy,
When, in your prime, you lifted
high,
Green living spires to the sky,
Proud in the glance of passers by.
'Twas little shade you did afford,
But stood a sentry by the ford,
Where cattle 'plash across the
stream,
In search of pastures new and
green.
But now, you stand all bleached
and bare,
A ghost for which no one could
care,
Except the soul who will find good,
In even a skeleton of wood!

Depression affects almost 25% of Canadians
at some time in their lives. Some warning
signs include: loss of interest In things en-
joyed formerly; feeling sad; feeling restless or
unable to sit still; feeling worthless or guilty;
appetite or weight changes; problems concentrating or remembering;
Toss of energy.
We all feel some of these symptoms now and then, but a depressed
person has several of these symptoms for weeks. Medical attention is
essential.
"Type A's", those with hard -driving personalities, have increased risk of
heart attacks. Now there's the "Type D" personality...people who tend
to worry a lot, have a gloomy outlook, keep things bottled up inside
and who become depressed and socially isolated. Type D's have a
much reduced chance of surviving heart attacks.
Medications used to treat depression can be very effective. The most
frustrating thing about them is the length of time they take to start
working. Side effects can start right away, but the positive effects can
take a month or more.
We dispense more than medication at Huron Apothecary. We dispense
information. We'd be happy to fill your next prescription.
