Hensall registration is set
HENSALL - Registration for
Brownies, Cubs and Scouts will
take place September 12 from 7-
8:30 p.m. at Hensall Public School.
A reminder that Hensall Legion
is hosting a family style dinner Sep-
tember 15 at 5 p.m. Adults 58.50,
children under 12, $4.50. Everyone
welcome. Tickets are available
from Legion members or phone
262-2722 or 262-2948.
At Hensail United Church, Rev.
Annen had returned from his vaca-
tion. Chuck Mallette was the organ-
ist. The service began in the usual
manner. "Joyful, Joyful We Adore
Thee" was sung followed by the
Prayer'of Confession and Words of
Assurance. The Old Testament
reading was from Proverbs 2:1-8.
"Come Thou Almighty King" was
sung. Words of welcome and greet-
ingys followed.

The Exeter Lawn Bowling
Club held 's last Men's Pairs
tournament of the season which
was sponsored by the Centralia
and Huron Park Lions Club.
Teams were entered from
clubs in London, Thamesford,
Lucknow, Seaforth, Sarnia,
Goderich and Exeter. The top
three prizes went to bowldrs
from the London -Elmwood
Club.
Roy Triebner and Peter
McPalls won their three games
to finish in third place at the Al-
vin Harmer Memorial Mens
Pairs Tournament in Mitchell.
For the second time, Roy Tei-
chner, Barb Triebner and Peter
McFalls won the Machan Snow -
hall tournament in Sarnia. Thir-
ty-eight teams participated in
this mixed -triples event in which.
you and your partners switch po-
sitions every four ends. The win-
ning score was 3wins 51+1I.
The Children's Hymn for the
month is "He's Got The Whole
World in His Hands". "God's Rev-
elation" was the Children's story.
After prayers of the people the
choir sang an anthem. The New
Testament reading was from James
1:17-27. Rev. Annen's message
was "A New Way to Escape Pris-
on". "Come Children Join to Sing"
was sung before the offering was
taken and dedicated by Doxology
and Prayer. "Blessed Be the Tie
That Binds" was sung. Commis-
sioning and Benediction and the
Three -Fold Amen closed the ser-
vice. The ushers were Lorne Gack-
stetter and Cecil Pepper. Several
guest worshippers were welcomed
to the service.
September 29 from 1-3 p.m. a
workshop will be held at Ontario
Street United Church, in Clinton,
on Climate Change.
The Youth Group will meet Sep-
tember 15, for more information
call Joanne Rowcliffe.
A Gospel Music Concert will be
held. Scptem» r. 27 at 7:3¢ p.m. at
Milverton Mennonite Church.
The Official Board of Hensall
United Church meet September 18.

vised that the programming for the
channel 12, Cable TV Community
Alzheimer night
HENSALL - Queensway Nursing
and Retirement Home, 'Hensall, in
conjunction with the Huron County
Alzheimer Society is sponsoring an
information night on "Communica-
tion With Those Who Have
Dementia", Tuesday, September
10, 7 p.m. at Queensway in Hen-
sall.
This evening will be an introduc-
tion to the "Alzheimer Coffee
Break Dsy" taking place September
20 across the country. Donations
for every cup of coffee poured will
benefit the Alzheimer movement in
Canada, an organization committed
to research and providing informa-
tion and support to caregivers of
the 250,000 Canadians who suffer
from this debilitating disease.

Wanda Van Bakel hosted a bridal
shower for her sitter Michelle Mar-
tyn, at her home in Kitchener on
Sunday afternoon with relatives
present. .
Bonnie Wilson, Dallas, Texas is
visiting with her parents, Cliff and
Margaret Miller, Staffa. On Sunday
they attended the 50th anniversary
dinner for Jake and Wilma Cornish
in Bayfield.

Camp volunteers to
enjoy thank you dinner

VARNA - On Sunday, Septem-
ber 15 Varna United Church will be
celebrating its anniversary. The
guest speaker will be Bob Hey-
wood.
Following the service, a thank
you dinner is scheduled at Camp
Menesetung. Please R.S.V.P. to
Carol Simons.
The U.C.W. Regional Meeting
will be held in Northside United
Church in Seaforth on Monday,
September 16 with registration at 7
p.m. The guest speaker will be
Bruce Whitmore with the topic
"Are We Happy Yet?" The music
will be led by the Seaforth Harmo-
ny Hi-Lites. Contact Anna Keys or
Joyce Dowson if you can attend.
The Varna U.C.W. is invited to
join the Goshen U.C.W. at their
meeting on Thursday, September
19 at 8 p.m. in Goshen church.

Stan -Lee club
On September 4 at 6:00 p.rn.
Stan -Lee members met at the Pa-
vilion at the Complex for a potluck
supper.
A story "Three Rooms and a
Bath" was read. Minutes were read
and the treasurer's report was giv-
en. Louise Hayter gave a report of
the London Convention.
"Centimental Journey" will be
presented at Clinton Legion Hall
by the Grand Bend Playhouse on
September 19 at 1:30 p.m.
Charles Reid is the club's presi-
dent, Louise Hayter is secretary
and Bob Stirling will continue as
treasurer. Bob and Margaret Reid
were responsible for the meeting so
Bob gave a reading about a poor
scared mouse. Margaret Hayter
gave a report on attending "The
Promise" at Forest on August 4.
The production had an attendance
on six nights of 12,600 people.
Six tables of euchre were played
with the following winners: High
pink card - Bernice Reid; Low pink
- Louise Hayter; High white card -
Elmer Hayter; Low white - Grace
McClinchey.
Elmer and Norene Hayter will
look after the October meeting.
Rev. George and Olive Phillips
of Belleville visited in Varna com-
munity last week.

Volunteer Auxiliary held their
monthly meeting Tuesday
morning. Queensway's annual
craft and bake sate will be held
October 30.
Rev. DeGraw of Faith Taber-
nacle in Centralia led worship
service Tuesday afternoon with
a message of hope and com-
fort. Rev. DeGraw performed a
solo "It is no Secret" accompa-
nied by Mrs. DeGraw on the
piano.
Breakfast Club met Wednes-
day morning over sausage.
eggs, toast and coffee.
Thursday afternoon reading
and music appreciation was
provided for several residents.
In the evening the residents
viewed another Bonanza epi-
sode loaned by Marg Cole.
Friday afternoon volunteer
