Exeter Fury lose to Ingersoll
EXETER - The Exeter Fury suf-
fered a 6-1 loss to Ingersoll at
home Sunday that likely ended any
hope the team had of making the
playoffs.
While still mathematically alive
with three games remaining, Sun-
day's game was one. the Fury need-
ed to win.
The game started well for Exeter
with the home team playing a
strong defence and controlling the
ball for the first half. Exeter fell be-
hind 1-0 when a shot eluded the
grasp of goalie Ryan Hern who had
trouble with the slick conditions.

The Fury responded shortly after as
Tom Westerveld fed a pass to the
front of the net that Chuck Walker
finished nicely fora 1-1 tie.
The Fury were forced to play
shorthanded when Walker was
ejected after an altercation with an
Ingersoll player. Exeter was able to
handle the Toss until midway
through the second half when
things began to fall apart. An un-
lucky play put Exeter down 2-1 as
Mark Lynn's clearing attempt rico-
cheted off an Ingersoll player into
the net. With one less player the
Fury had problems mounting any
offence while Ingersoll passed the
ball around to the open man until
an excellent scoring chance pre-
sented itself.
Ingersoll put four quick goals in
late in the game as Exeter saw its
season end with three games re-
maining to be played.
Exeter heads to Delhi Sunday
night, a place they have never won
in their three previous trips.
