Getting a boost
Ryan Smith got a boost from his babysitter at the Exeter
outdoor pool on Thursday aftemoon. Other children cooled
off during the heat wave with a Water Olympics organized
by the staff.

EXETER - Musical programs
were the highlight of the entertain-
ment this month at the Exeter Din-
ing Program.
On August 6 Country Korners
group presented old time music,
with a keyboard, violin and guitar.
Lois Wilson sang on August 13, ac-
companied on the keyboard by
Marjorie Johns. Roberta Walker
sang several numbers and also
played the violin on August 20. On
August 27, Marlene and Jonathon
Thornton sang solos and duets.
They are both accomplished sing-
ers, and have sang at several pro-
grams.
Keyboard players for August
were Maxine Sereda and Wilma
Davis. Sympathy cards were sent to
Josie Ryckman and Marjorie Johns.
Birthday honors were sung for Lyla
Broderick and Mildred Thomson.
A reading was given by Faye Skin-
er called "A child's view of Grand-
mas and Grandpas."
Draw prizes were won by Mary
Smits, Ruth Skinner, Allen Bus-
well, Doris Denham, Marion
Frayne,. Humphrey Arthur, Louise
Carson, Betty Humphrey, Harry
Dougall, Georgina Engler, Bea
Munn, Marjorie Dykman, Ann
Klungel and Lyla Broderick.
Party planned for ball players
The 'Fun Day' will in-
clude baseball games
and a potluck supper.

VARNA - The Stan Lee Club
will begin the fall season with a
picnic supper at the Complex on
Wednesday, September 4 at 6 p.m.
Bob and Marg Reid are in charge.
Huron Country Playhouse is pre-
senting a two-hour musical spon-
sored by the Huron Adult Day Cen-
tre on September 19 at 1:30 p.m. at
the Clinton Legion Hall. An invita-
tion is extended to all seniors
groups, Legions and nursing homes
in the surrounding areas. Tickets
are $5 each. The musical show is
"A Sentimental Journey", songs of
the 20's, 30's and 40's.
The Stanley Pee Wee Boys had
their final tournament in Lieury
August 16 and 17. They won their
first game with Fullarton with a
score of 6-5. This is their first win
against this team this season. They
lost their next two games which put
them out of the finals Their coach-
es are Mac Webster and Audrey
McClennan.
The Stanley Mite Girls lost their
first game to Goderich Township
and they won their second game to
Seaforth which got them in for the
'B' final and they won against a
Goderich team and took the 'B'
championship. The coaches of this
team are Janine Hayter, Kim Tay-
lor, Heather Beierling and Laura
McNichol.
Blue Water residents
take trip to zoo
ZURICH - The residents of Blue
Water Rest Home who enjoyed a
weiner roast at the Cathy Shantz
cottage at Northville on August 19
were Rose Merner, Esther Makins,
Ruby Bell, Clara Hamilton, Kurt
Gebel, Pearl Miller, Rose Brode-
rick, Bob Carson, Mabel Kyle, Vic
Virro, Edna Johnston, Ted Stein-
bach, Clarence Gascho and helpers
Neil and Gladys Gingerich and
driver Glen Thiel.

escorted residents Mabel Kyle,
Clarence Gascho, Philippa Steckle,
Esther Makins, Ruby Bell, Clara
Hamilton, Rose Merner and Bob
Carson to Zurich Mennonite
Church for their regular Sunday
morning church service.
On Wednesday the residents
went to Grand Bend Zoo. Edna
Johnston, Hilda Rader, Beulah Des-
jardine, Lottie Gascho, Jean Burr,
Clara Hamilton, Pearl Miller, Kurt
Gebel and Vivian Fremlin went
with volunteers Margaret Suplat,
Charlene Manson, Gladys Ginge-
rich and Scott Gaiser, driver Glen
Thiel and Adjuvant Cathy Shantz.
Pastor John Tremulak, Zion Lu-
theran Church, Dashwood conduct-
ed Thursday afternoon Chapel Ser-
vice. Fr. Matthias Wronski, St.
Boniface Church, Zurich celebrated
Mass.
Thursday evening the residents
enjoyed an hour of entertainment
provided by "Boots, Buckles and
Spurs," a line dance group from
Dashwood.
Thursday evening it was an 80th
birthday dinner at Erb's Restaurant
for Annie Thomson, sister of Jim
Parkins. After dinner the family so -

HENSALL - Residents of
Queensway Nursing Home in Hen-
sall worked their way through an
exercise routine Monday Morning.
They worked on their woodwork-
ing project in the afternoon..
Tuesday afternoon, Shirley Lu-
ther led a church service, followed
with a time of visiting and fellow-
ship.
Wednesday morning, Breakfast
Club was held for the residents.
They enjoyed visiting with one an-
other over a hot cup of coffee, and
eggs and toast. Throughout the day
many residents sat outside or went
for a walk around town.
Thursday was a busy day at
Queensway. In the afternoon, Win-
nie Hutton was in to visit the resi-
dents, and a bible study was held in
the activity room. It was an enjoya-
ble time for all who attended. A Re-
tirement Home quiz was held. It
was a time of laughs and allowed
everyone to put on their "thinking
caps." In the evening a birthday
party was held for the month of Au-
gust. The entertainment for the eve-
ning was "Bill Clark and Friends".
There was a large turnout and it
was an evening of fun and fellow-
ship.
Nursing Home Resident Council
and Retirement Home Operations
Group met Friday and the special
events for September were dis-
cussed. Everyone enjoyed the activ-
ities that took place for the month
of August, and looked forward to
the month of September.

day Party with Marie Flynn and the
Huron Strings.
