Bantams
place second
in consolation
tournament
EXETER - The Exeter Minor
Bantam baseball team placed sec-
ond in the Western Ontario Base-
ball Association (W.O.B.A.) Con-
solation Tournament hosted by
Exeter over the weekend.
The Exeter Bantams won two
out of their first three games on
Saturday. They won their first
game against Markdale by default,
lost a close second game to Luck -
now 7-6 and beat Walkerton 9-7.
On Sunday they beat Hanover 7-5
before bowing out to Lucknow 9-7
in the finals.
"We could have beat them, but
that's just the way it went," said
team Manager Bob Bilinsky about
the two tough losses to Lucknow.
Both games were extremely close
as Exeter lost the first game by
only one run and the final game
by two.
However winning the consola-
tion silver was a remarkable ac-
complishment for a team that fin-
ished eighth in the league.
The Minor Bantams are coached
by Albert Van Dyken, Mike Watt
and Jim Ariens.
