On Sunday, September 1, at the Hensall Community Centre, each vehicle will receive a written navi- gational guide and each person can register for the poker rally. To col- lect scores for the poker hand(s), a participant must visit 4 checkpoints throughout the township with the fifth and final card to be drawn back at Hensall. The winners will be determined by the best poker hands. By Us Sangster Hensall correspondent HENSALL - At Hensall Unitod Church, Rev. Peebles was guest minister, with Chuck Mallette as the organist. The worshippers were welcomed by Hilda Payne, while Dawn and Jason Corbett looked af- ter the ushering duties. Rev. Pee- bles' lesson was from Acts 2:36-47, his message was "Work of the Church". Several flower arrange- ments were in the sanctuary in memory of the late Bill Bailey. Re- freshments were served by the Christian development and Com- munications Committee. Don't forget the Hensall and Dis- trict Horticultural Society Flower Show at Queensway August 21. The sympathy of the community is extended to the family and friends of the late Bill Bailey, a for- mer Hensall businessman. The Hensall firefighters, Parks Board and Hensall Kinsmen are very pleased with the success of the beef barbecue, dance and elimina- tion draw held last Saturday. The tickets were sold out. The grand prize of $1,000.00 was won by Hensall resident Mary Lou Hyde. Thanks is extended to all who turned out to support this worth- while event. The evening's pro- ceeds will be used to support the purchase of a fire department res- cue equipment van and self- propelled ice resurfacer for the Hensall Arena. Thanks is also ex- tended to the Hensall and District Kinsmen. Their efforts in planning and supporting the event assured success. The Hensall playground has wrapped up its summer season. During the final week the children enjoyed a trip to Bingeman Park in Kitchener, movies, wild and wacky day and a year-end barbecue.
