Blue water residents attend
Dashwood Friedsburg
ZURICH - On Wednesday after-
noon, with the promise of rain and
coolness in the air, instead of an
outing the residents gathered in the
auditorium to view a video "Tour-
ing England". The lush green coun-
tryside and thatched roof houses
was a refreshing site.
Rev. Gari Lazaro, Zurich/
Dashwood United Church conduct-
ed Thursday afternoon Chapel Ser-
vice. Fr. Matthias Wronski, St.
Boniface Church, Zurich celebrated
Mass.
Saturday, the Village of Dash-
wood celebrated their Friedsburg
parade and residents of Blue Water
Rest Home boarded the wheelchair
bus to take part in the festivities.
The staff of the home gathered on
their wagon float they had prepared
for the Hay Days parade to also
help celebrate the event. Everyone
hada good time on a warm sunny
August day. Congratulations Dash-
wood!
The residents look forward to a
trip to Stratford on August 5 and
Max Ducharme and his Town Lin-
ers on August 8. A trip is also
planned to spend an afternoon at
Walmart in Goderich on August
13.
A poem to share with the readers
in honor of the Civic holiday, writ-
ten by resident Philippa Steckle, at
a WS Convention in 1965:
Citizenship
To live for others, all for each,
And sweet humanity to teach;
To guide the erring, cheer the old,
Or help some tender mind unfold;
That spot of ugliness erase,
And plant some beauty in its place;
To honor country, flag and Queen,
And live each day with grace se-
rene;
All these dear Lord, we humbly
Pray;
Thus may we honor Thee each day.

Queensway residents enjoy outdoors
HENSALL - With the beautiful
weather of late, Queensway resi-
dents have been enjoying the out-
doors. With the comfortable lawn
chairs and shade tree it's easy to
pies the time while watching the
rest of the world hurry by.
Shirley Luther visited Tuesday
afternoon leading another meaning-
ful church service. A time of vist-
ing and fellowship followed the
service.
Several residents enjoyed a mens
breakfast on Wednesday morning,
when they gathered in the private
dining room and dined family style
around the round table that accom-
modates eight people. Winnie Hut-
ton, pastoral care volunteer was in
to visit residents Wednesday after-
noon. Several residents also bene-
fitted from aromatherapy and mas-
sage in the afternoon. This is one of
the most relaxing experiences some
one can undergo. Elizabeth Stanbu-
ry of Goderich teaches a course on
aromatherapy for interested indi-
viduals.
Western movies, have been the
order of the day recently, since
Marg Cole has been lending videos
of old "Bonanza" episodes.
Fun and fitness helped burn a
few calories on Friday morning
and was followed by an ice cream
parlour in the afternoon. Bill Lind -
field of Varna was our louhge en-
tertainment Friday evening in the
retirement home when he enter-
tained with many old numbers on
his banjo.
Coming events
August 7: Queensway entertains
at Zurich Dining for Seniors.
August 12: the playground chil-
dren entertain.
