MacLean said it was the "Ca- nadian hockey attitude" which helped them overcome the highly skilled American team. "Hard work and team con- cept...that's what beat them," said MacLean. `They were more tal- ented, but we played like a team and that's what got us the gold." The Canadian team was sup- ported by a large contingent of fans ,who travelled to the Odeum Ce- ment Rinks in Chicago to cheer them on. The Canadians seemed to have earned the respect of the other four teams that were watching the final match. MacLean said players from other countries were cheering them on from the stands in in their game against the Americans. "It seemed like we were playing in front of a home crowd in Can- ada," he said. is In-line hockey is a sport that has been growing steadily and has gained a reputation as. being a fast high scoring game of skill and fi- nesse. MacLean, who played minor hockey in Exeter, was drafted re- cently by the Kitchener Rangers at the 1996 Ontario Hockey League draft after playing one season for Kitchener's Jr. "B" team.
