FunLJyMoney: comedy with an energetic pace
GRAND BEND - "Hankie pan-
kie under the blankie."
That's what Funny Marey, pow
playing at the Huron Country' Play-
house, is all about...as well as a
briefcase loaded with money.
Playwright Ray Cooney, known
for his ability to use farce, relies on
a series of briefcase switching,
mixed identities, misunderstood sit-
uations, quick -paced dialogue and
exaggerated actions in Funny Mon-
ey, which was a box office hit in
London, England.
Cooney makes skilled use of dra-
matic irony through countless epi-
sodes. The audience often gets an
opportunity to laugh at the char-
aters who frequently haven't a
clue as to plot details, due to their
.confusion that centres around the
suitcase full of money.
Lead actors Ian Deakin and Jane
Moffat use extraordinary energy
a11d flawless acting to set the pace
as the couple who accidentally lay
claim; to the funds.
Sheldon Davis as the taxi driver
adds polished comedy in a well -
cast role.
Although the play is funny, has
strong acting and is well -directed, it
does get tiring as one continuous
labyrinth of episodes without scene
changes and following inter-
mission, picking up exactly where
i: left off.
Despite its ability to confuse rath-
er easily, you get the feeling not
every word or twist in the plot is
meant to be kept track of. If com-
edy is meant to trigger a light-
hearted, spontaneous reaction from
its audience, Finny Money does
just that.
For example, the play's dialogue
often goes around in circles or goes
nowhere, encouraging laughter.
"Ane you going to answer that?"
a detective asks Henry, who lays
claim to the misplaced money.
"It's a wrong number," Henry re-
plies.
"How can you tell?"'
"By the ring"
The performance began July 30
and runs until August 10.

Q. Does my dotes drier mama
v
regular or riuttne Nen iMiance?
A. Automatic clothes dryers
like most other major
appliances require only
occasional or infrequent..
maintenance. However there
are some things which can be
done to extend the life of the
machine, and to maintain or
improve its efiidency. Once a
year or so the dryer should be
moved from its spot, and after
disconnecting the appliance
from electricity, the motor and surrounding area
should be vacuumed to allow the motor to breathe
properly. Also the vent should be maintained in a
completely clean and open state. If plastic flex vent is
used it should be stretched tightly so that no lint and
moisture build-up is possible. These simple things will
enhance your dryer's ability to function well for years
to come.

Q. How do 1 eliminate
the musty moldy odour
in my basement?'
A. Just plug in an
Alpine Air Purifier and
notice the pleasant
change in the air almost
immediately. Its ozone

Q. 1 would iike to redecorate my
bedroom. What should i do first
paint and wxdipaper or have the
carpet installed?
A. We recommend that you
have the carpet installed first,
as the new synthetic backings
are quite rough and tend to
scratch the wall or baseboard
when the installer is cutting
into place no matter how
careful they are. When
painting and wallpapering
piulply, use drop cloths to protect your new carpet.

Q. What tool can you rent to
unplug drains and central
vacuum cleaners?
A.To unplug drains for
residential or commercial
use, most common used
are sewer snakes. These
come fn various sizes and
lengths depending on the
requirements. To unclog
vacuum systems, the same
applies as on sewers. The
size tool depends again on
the piping of the system.

FUNERAL SERVICE
Q. What options do 1 have for the
final disposition of cremated
remains?
A. There are many options for
the final disposition of
cremated remains. The ashes
can be placed in an urn for
interment in a family burial
plot, they may be placed in an
indoor or outdoor
columbarium, or they may be
taken home but this is not
recommended. The scattering
of remains may also be done over a designated
geographical spot in accordance with provincial laws
and wishes of the deceased. If this is done it is highly
advisable that a spot be chosen for a permanent
memorial. For more information call me at 235-3500.
