Dear Editor: 1 find myself once again writing a letter/to the editor. I wondered if my arm letter printed in the July 10 T.A. would be misinterpreted. I received many positive corn- ments from people and two letters, one unsigned and addressed to my residence, the dther which appeared in last week's T A. Both included a brief history les n. 1 wonder how many Canadian really know every - 11\ 11II\I;IIII'IIIII (under NEW Management) (open at 11 a.m. daily) Daily. A general survey was taken and it re- vealed that 1/3 of those surveyed did not even know when Confeder- ation occurred. I agree with the writer that we are different than Americans. I appre- ciate this fact and the fact that we are more subdued than Americans, yet still universally recognized and respected. But what is wrong with "hoisting flags and bursting into song?" Does one go to a birthday party and not sing 'Happy Birthday' to the hon- ored guest? Have you ever felt the emotion when singing aloud in church? Can we not stand and sing our na- tional anthem at least once a year - perhaps on Canada Day? If any- thing, it will at least help us remem- ber the words! My first letter was not intended to insult, but to remind us that once again we were selected as the most desired country in the world to live in. We must live here with mind, heart and soul!
