game at Tournament
WALLACEBURG - The Exeter
Midget Baseball team participated
in the Wallaceburg tournament
over the weekend but despite a sol-
id effort they only managed to win
one out of their four games.
In the "C" semi-finals against
Grimsby on Sunday, Exeter al-
lowed four runs in the top of the
third to take a 6-0 lead. In the bot-
tom of the fourth Jarret Jeffrey led
off with a walk and Denomme dou-
bled him home.
Paul Gregus followed with a
triple to score Denomme after Scott
Reid struck out, Regan Neilands
walked and stole second and Kyle
Fenwick hit an infield bunt to
score Gregus. Neilands scored later
in the inning to make it 6-4 after
,four innings.
Leading off in the fifth, J.J. An-
derson walked and Mike Degroot
reached first on an error. They
eventually scored on a ground -out.
With both tams tied at six the
game went into extra innings and
at the top of the ninth Grimsby
scored seven unanswered runs after
Gregus had retired eight out of the
last 10 batters. Exeter couldn't re-
taliate throughout the last four in-
nings losing to Grimsby 13-6.

Slow start costs Fury
LONDON - The Exeter Fury fell
behind 3-0 early in their game Sat-
urday in London and were never
able to recover losing 6-1 to Bos-
nia.
After the three quick goals in the
first 15 minutes Exeter started to
carry the play and managed to get a
couple of scoring chances. Defend-
er Justin O'Rourke hit the crossbar
on a shot that he drifted from inside
half. It wasn't until Mark Lynn was
awarded a penalty shot that the
Fury were able to put a shot past
the Bosnian goalie.
Trailing 3-1 starting the second
half the Fury were attempting to
come back by keeping the pressure

on the Bosnian defense. When the
play moved to Exeter's end defend-
er Souban Inlakahana turned away
the Bosnian attack with his strong
play. O'Rourke again narrowly
missed a goal as another of his
shots, this time from half, floated
over the reach of the keeper only to
go off the crossbar for the second
time.
The Bosnian forwards were able
to get through the Fury defense
however and with a well-placed
shot to the top corner made the
score 4-1 and ruined any hope of a
Fury comeback. Exeter now falls to
3-3-2 with their next game Sunday
at home against Tillsonburg.
