The rose will be officially introduced In 1997 to mark 100 years of car - ring for Canadians. The rose garden is maintained by the Hensel! Horticulture Society. The collision occurred at ap- proximately 4:30 p.m. on Thames Road West. Kenneth McLeod, 39, of Parkhill was driving a 1996 Mack truck apd trailer when David Grainger, 35, bf Grand Bend, driving a 1985 Ford pick-up truck collided with the right side of McLeod's vehicle. According to police, Grainger re- ceived minor injuries. HENSALL - The strawberry so- cial fundraiser at Queensway Nurs- ing Home in Hensall raised $200 for the Alrheimers Society, Huron County. Jack and Irene Vincent provided entertainment. The results of the raffle were: a Campbell Soup woven throw was won by Shirley Walmsley; a barbecue was won by Elaine Cooper; a baby quilt was won by Peter Bedard; and a t -shirt was won by Becky Corbett. Gladys VanEgmond and Her Merry Makers were the entertain- ment at the June birthday party. Birthday greetings to Tom Slavin, Marg Fremlin, Dorothy Bullock, Marg Coates, and Mary Broadfoot. Carolyn Regier's music students presented a program of piano selec- tions at a recital at Queensway in June. Dorothy Bullock, Homer Taylor, Everett Gallagher, volunteer Marg Cole and staff members had fun ap- pearing on the Queensway float in the Hay Days parade. Gallagher won the prize for the longest beard in the Hay Days beard growing contest. Both Gallagher and Taylor were happy to shed the excess fa- cial hair a few days after the con- test. Julie Debus entertained in the Re- fitment Home Lounge at Friend- ship Friday.
