The event , which began June 29 and runs to July 6, has brought the nation's best skydivers together to compete for a spot on the Canadian Formation Skydiving Team with winners going on to represent Can- ada at the world Skydiving Cham- pionships held in Turkey next year. Competitors will jump in eight - way and four-way formation sky- diving, featuring style, accuracy and canopy formation skydiving. In addition to this event, two ma- jor Canadian record attempts will try to build the largest formation ever flown in Canada. The collect- ed Canadian talent will attempt to break the existing national record of a 44 person, one -point forma- tion. This year 50 people will link up and move from one formation shape to another. The Canadian women will try to break the existing record of a 22 woman formation. In order to break these records skydivers will jump from two Cessna Caravans flying with a Twin Otter airplane. This is the second year the Na- tional competitions have used a Twin Otter aircraft. The short take off and landing twin -engine air- plane holds 22 skydivers and climbs to 14,000 feet. The record attempts will take place on Saturday and Sunday at SWOOP on Highway 81 at the Grand Bend Airport. Kippen Gun Club June 26 Dennis Boyd Ernie Marsheli v' Tok3 Alien • .
