EXETER - Canada Day is a day for everyone to celebrate, according to Bart DeVries, Exeter
Legion chairman. This year the Legion has involved all elementary schools in Canada Day-
i..Efestivities by hosting an art competition to promote Canadian celebrities. °. ..
DeVries says that the event was simply meant to promote Canadian awareness of people, and
that it did. Displayed below are the 10 winners from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 from across
the South Huron district.
At least 80 participants submitted their work "My favorite Canadian sport or person" to the
Legion. First place winners received $25, and honorable mentions received $10.
This event kicks off a full day of family activities for Friday July 1. The Legion is sponsoring
events that will be held in and around downtown Exeter to commemorate Canada's 127th birthday.
"It's an inexpensive family day," said DeVries, "Elvis, Karaoke, and the
members of the Forest City Flyers Club are new additions
to the day. They should all be lots of fun."
