Funding in
place
CLINTON - The province is
providing Huron County munici-
palities with $785,900 in supple-
mentary funding for special road
projects during 1994, Huron MPP
Paul Klopp announced recently.
"Our government is committed
to getting Ontario back to work",
said Paul Klopp "We have main-
tained the funding available this
year for specific supplementary
projects, at last year's level, in rec-
ognition of the importance of this
commitment."
Supplementary funds are ear-
marked for specific or one-time
projects and equipment purchases
that cannot be accommodated un-
der a municipality's base road allo-
cation.
"The funds are designated for
work that has been identified by
the local municipality as signifi-
cant projects that can get under
way immediately and create jobs
now," said MPP Paul Klopp.
The supplementary funding is
part of the province's commitment
of $704.5 million to maintain and
improve the roads in the prov-
ince's 863 municipalities. In addi-
tion, the government is investing
$722 million during the next two
years through the Canada -Ontario
infrastructure Works Program to
help municipalities make local in-
frastructure improvements. The
$2.1 billion program will create up
to 25,000 jobs provincewide.
