meeting with a Scripture reading
and a prayer.

followed by reports from the dif-
ferent committees
Rev. Henderson spoke about the
new banner, after which the offer-
ing was take and Helen Bridges
read the treasurers report.

ing with a prayer and a social time
followed.
Graduate - Jeff Keller, son of
George and Elaine, gradu-
ated on June 1st, from the
University of Guelph with a
B.A. in Management and Ec-
onomics. He has taken a po-
sition with the financial con-
sultant firm of Deichert,

try. They enjoyed watching the

emus at the Wilder farm during
their outing.

Thursday afternoon chapel ser-
vice. Father Matthias Wronski,

celebrated mass.
St. Boniface Buddy Picnic
scheduled for Friday was can-
celled due to the heat wave.
The 19 male residents re-
ceived carnation corsages in
honour of Father's Day from
members of the Home's Auxil-
iary.
The residents look forward to
visit from the Thames Road
United Church on June 21 for
the June birthday party and a
picnic with their buddies on
June 24. June 26 is the resident/
family annual summer dinner.

summer flowers beau-
tified the church and a
time of fellowship fol-
lowed.

GRANTON - Several ladies from
the Granton area enjoyed a bus trip
to Sarnia on Wednesday for dinner
on the boat and later a visit to
Swains Nursery.
Muriel Lewis attended the Strath-
roy Shriners' Beef Barbecue held at
Coldstream Community Centre Fri-
day evening.
Pastor Normalie Voakes officiat-
ed at the marriage of Pamela Wa-
ters to Tom Young in Granton
United Church Saturday. A recep-
tion followed at the Kirkton Com-
munity Centre when the Granton
UCW catered the meal.
Anniversary service
At St. Thomas Anglican Church
on Sunday, June 19, the anniver-
sary service was held. Rev. Stephen
Emery celebrated the Holy Euchar-
ist and his message was about
"Hope is living in a place of assu-
rance of things to come, but Faith
is knowing God is there even
though He is unseen".
The readers were Betty Ann
Waugh and Robert Parkinson and
Paul Acres assisted as servers. A
duet "Open my eyes" was sung by
Cathie Wessman and Marlene
French.
Peonies and other summer flow-
ers beautified the church and a time
of fellowship followed.
The annual beef barbecue in the
park was announced for Thursday,
July 7.
At the Granton United Church
Sunday, Pastor Normalie Voakes
entitled her sermon "Communion
Meditation'.
Matthew McRobert lit the Christ
Candle and Martin Riddell assisted
Pastor Voakes in preparing the wa-
ter for the baptism of his sister Eri-
ca May, daughter of Walter and Ju-
lie (Mclrt) Riddell. The choir
sang 'The church's me founda-
tion'.
UCW update
The quarterly general UCW met
at the United Church on June 14,
commencing with dessert and bev-
erage served by Unit 4.
This unit was also in charge of
the program when a former Gran-
tonite Ken McGuffin of London
was the guests speaker on this trip

go to Harley Davis who placed
third at Trail Blazer Park at Shan-
nonville on Sunday, in the 60 cc.
division.
A Birthday dinner was held hon-
ouring Mary Davis June 13 at the
home of her daughter and son-in-
law Janett and Jim Barker. Mar-
guerite Greenlee, Alexia Tindall.
Hugh and Hazel Davis were guests
also. Mary Davis was busy on the
weekend with relatives and friends
dropping by to wish her Happy
Birthday.
• Ron and Margaret Carroll attend-
ed the Open House Sunday honour-
ing Ethel Copeland of Kirkton on
her 80th birthday. Best wishes go
out to her from her friends at St.
Patrick's.
Hugh and Hazel Davis returned

if you are allergic to cats, it's not the cat's hair that
causes the problem. It is actually a protein In the
saliva and secretions from the cat's oil glands that
sticks to the hair. When this protein dries up and is
shed, it becomes airborne. tt causes no problem for
most people but for some, it can cause asthma and
hay fever symptoms.
To give good protection, a sunscreen should be applied in adequate
amounts. A good guideline is about 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoonful) on each of
these areas: face and neck, each arm and shoulder, fro. • of torso, the
back. and double the amount for each leg and top of foot.
Remember, the sun causes 90% of all skin cancers.
Sitting on the toilet should be kept to 5 minutes or less. Too long can
put too much pressure on the blood vessels of the anal areas and could
result In hemorrhoids.
