Majority

Zurich
parking
restrictions
ZURICH - The results of a park-
ing survey in Zurich are in, and if
council follows majority opinion,
few changes can be expected in
parking restrictions in the village.
Concerned about public backlash
against tightened enforcement of a
no -parking zone around Zurich's
main intersection, council issued
300 surveys to ratepayers and re-
ceived 160 responses. Of those, 90
said they would prefer to sec the
parking restrictions left as -is.
Seven respondents advocated is-
suing warnings to those found
parked in the no -parking zones, 19
wanted the zones made smaller, and
18 wanted (he restrictions abolished
outright.
"I think we're probably going to
leave it as is," predicted clerk -
treasurer Maureen Simnlons, but
noted she had received another two
complaints from parking ticket re-
cipients on Monday alone.
Council will be reviewing the sur-
veys and will be making its conclu-
sions al its July meeting.
