Both teams found themselves evenly matched and in the midst of an exciting game. St. George's claimed two quick goals in thc first half, and appeared to be in control until Dave Maguire fed a nice pass to Hcnri Debruyn in front of the net, scoring to cut the lead in half. Exeter had a few good scoring chances throughout the rest of the game. Both Jason McFa1Is and Debruyn came close, with Debruyn attempt stopped with a good catch by St. George's goalkeeper. The game was described by the players as a very "physical" affair, keeping alive the rivalry between the two teams.
