When applying sunscreen, don't forget your tips.
One of the most common sites for skin cancer is
the lower lip. There are many sun -blocker lipsticks
and lip -balms... coloured or clear, that will do a
good job.
Speaking of sunscreens, remember to apply It at least one hour before
exposure to the sun for best protection.
There is a class of laxatives called "stool softeners". Unlike other laxa-
tives, they do not ,stimulate the bowel to move. Their primary action is
to prevent constipation so should be taken on a routine basis. The
name Docusate is the prime example of this group.
Keeping drugs out of reach of children is always sound advice. One
medication that gets a lot of attention from little klds is the birth control
pill. Attracted by the fancy packaging and because they see Mom taking
them all the time, kids often think they are candy.
In these fast -paced, mechanized -and computerized times, it's nice to
know you can drop Into your neighbourhood pharmacy and speak to a
pharmacist in person. It's a good feeling for us, too. It makes for great
communication.

Sunday School anniversary at Centralia UC
Children of the Sunday School took part in the
special service June 5. They were also present-
ed with participation certificates.
By Mary Peterson
CENTRALIA - Bev Rabbits from St. Marys was guest speaker at the
Centralia Sunday School Anniversary service on June 5. His talk, entitled
"Taking Things for Granted", pointed out the importance of things we take
for granted, such as water and our hands.
Another thing that taken for granted is freedom. The church windows
pay tribute to those who won our freedom in battle many years ago. The
congregation gave thanks for all participants in D Day who landed on the
shores of Normandy on June 6, 1944
The Sunday School shared in the service with music and readings. The
children sang "Love's Patient", accompanied by Marjorie Johns on the pi-
ano. Crystal Knee and Brendan Farr -Gaynor read the scripture. Faye Skin-
ner and the teachers, Donna Smith, Brent Caslick and Becky Harrel, pre-
sented certificates to the children to recognize their participation.
The choir, accompanied by Marjorie Johns, sang "Jesus Hold My
Hand".
Rob Essery thanked the many people involved in the air show food
booth for their work. The event raised funds for the church and provided
an enjoyable time of fellowship.
On August 20, a car show is being organized for the Centralia Commu-
nity Hall. The UCW has been asked if they'd like to sell pies at this event.
The service on Sunday, June 12 was a combined service at Zion West.
Barbara Hicks from Camp Menesetung was guest speaker at this Sunday
School Anniversary service.
The service on Sunday, June 19 will be a combined church service at
Centralia U.C. at 11:30 a.m. with Bev Rabbits.
For Father's Day, a women's choir will sing. All women in the congre-
gation are invited to the choir practice at 7:00 p.m. on June 16 to practice
the anthem for this service.
Following the service the Centralia/Zion Pastoral Relations Committee
have called a meeting at Centralia U.C. to present their report and the
name of the person to be recommended for appointment as the new minis-
ter.
The UCW met last week at Zion West and Centralia. The Foyer family
accepted the challenge to help the developing world by living and working
in Haiti. During these past 22 years, they have raised a family of four
while assisting in many aspects of development. They are relocating to
Florida to assist Haitian refuges.
Centralia UCW and spouses enjoyed their potluck followed by a reward-
ing game of "Bowling for Groceries" and a video comedy. They will meet
again in September.
Special summer services have been planned. On June 26. Rev. Maurice
Platts will be the guest speaker. During July, combined services will be
held at 10:00 a.m. and led by Heather Smith.
Here's a special note of interest for the Centralia community. Did you
know that you may lose your local library if plans to close it proceed? For
more information, stop by the library to look at the Library Board's strate-
gic plan.
