Student of the Year nominees
Keith Crawford has had an active role in South
Huron for the last five years, as a student, athlete,
coach and council member.
Since grade nine he has participated on five suc-
cessful basketball and volleyball teams, winning a
Huron -Perth Basketball Championship in Grade 11
and a Volleyball Championship this season.
Carwford played badminton for a season in
Grade 11 and enjoyed being an athlete.
He helped coach the Junior Boys Volleyball team
in Grade 12 and coached the Midget Boys Basket-
ball team as well. Crawford was 1993 most valu-
able contributor, winning the Paw Award last year.
His biggest commitment to the school however
has been as a Student Council member, elected
Athletic Chairperson for this year.
Crawford will also be helping out kids in the lit-
eracy festival on June 9.
He has been a well rounded student throughout
his years and will be attending Huron College at
the University of Western Ontario next fall.
Molly McClure is the fastest person in South Hu-
ron, both physically and mentally.
Besides being a five year honour student and a
peer tutor, she has excelled in both cross-country
and track and field.
She has attended WOSSA and OFSSA for nu-
merous events, doing well in all.
As well, McClure was a founding member of the
cross-country ski team.
She is well known for her exhibits in Science
West.
For five years she has contributed her leadership
and musicality to several bands and choirs.
Chosen to participate in the All Star Jazz Band
for Musicfest, she has many musical achievements
to be proud of.
James Rolph, son of Jim and Sue from Exeter,
has had five fun -filled years at South Huron.
Beyond the school entironment, James served a
co-op placement at PFW Systems, Londono,

Rolph was a member of the school volleyball

lines keeping a few soccer tournaments throughout
the years.
However, beyond the athletic aspect of school,
Rolph has also been a member of the Guidance
Support Team for two years, a Prefect, an Athletic
Council representative, and a member of South Hu-
ron's famous Spirit Club.
Rolph's proudest accomplishment was being a
member of the Student's Council for all five years
at South Huron. From grades nine to 12, James was
a class representative. To top this, Roiph hit his
Student's Council peak when he was elected as the
Vice President for the 1993/94 school year.
In the future, he plans to attend Fanshawe Col-
lege for a degree in business. We hope that his out-
going personality and sense of humour help him
reach success in whatever he does.
Laurie Coolman has enjoyed her five years at
South Huron displaying active involvement in
many aspects of student life.
She is an honour roll student and was presented
with an Excellence in Education award.
She enjoys her involvement in OSAID, yearbook
and youth Involvement as well as organizing this
year's formal committee. Coolman will attend a
junior leadership program at Camp Sylvan.
Coolman values her involvement in South Hu-
ron's music department. She has been a member of
the Gold Medal winning Wind Ensemble, concert
band, quintet, honour hand and jazz band for which
she won an honour award, throughout the past five
years.
She has been actively involved in the athletic de-
partment at South Huron. Coolman hasp Pa

on the soccer and volleyball teams and this year
she helped coach the midget girls volleyball team.
She represented South Huron's athletic council as
this years liaison. She plans to attend University of
Western Ontario in the fall. She is the daughter of
Kathy Coolman.
Jeff Lingard has been actively involved in athlet-
ics, and has even found some time for academics in
his days at South Huron.
He achieved honours standings in two of his five
years, including his OAC year. He was a member
of the Guidance Support Team but received a fair
share of guidance himself.
Athletically speaking, Lingard was a member of
the soccer team for five years and was captain of
two Huron Perth championship teams.
He also played volleyhall throughout his high
school career and was captain for three seasons,
capping his final year with a long awaited Huron
Perth championship.
Most likely Lingard's greatest achievement was
when he, with the help of some friends, reunited
the Jackson Five and brought them to South Huron.
He is planning on attending the University of
Waterloo next year to study science and business.

Sara Wallis has actively enjoyed her five years at
South Huron and has maintained a considerable
high average throughout her years.
Wallis helped to create the Youth Involvement
group at South Huron and has been an active and
loyal member ever since.
She has volunteered a great deal of time in the
segregated classroom at S.H.D.H.S. and at the Spe-
cial Olympics in 1993.
She has been a member of the Yearbook Com-
mittee and OSAID. This past year, Wallis was OS -
AID chairperson and she organized many events
with the group.
In her OAC year, Sara has been a prefect, a mem-
ber of the formal committee, a peer tutor and de-
spite her lack of athletic involvement, has been a
member of the Athletic Council. Wallis volun-
teered as a Junior Leader at Camp Sylvan.
She hopes to attend university in the fall to pur-
sue a career in the field of social sciences.
She is the daughter of Roger and Lois Wallis,
Grand Bend.
Dave Morlock is a very active member of the
music department, using his many different abili-
ties to contribute to our award-winning groups.
School shows have also seen his participation.
He is well known as student council treasurer, king
of the announcements, and this year's valedictori-
an.
Five years of Reach for the Top have led to his
high academic standing.
Morlock is also a former member of the South
Huron basketball team. His talents include compos-
ing music, attending finite, and being a Deadbeat.
Chris Passmore has been involved in many as-
pects of student life throughout her high school ca-
reer. She has combined high academic achievement
with sports and club activities.
Passmore played five years of girls' basketball,
and helped score and time basketball and volleyball
games.
She has been a peer monitor for three years and
is presently serving as a prefect.
For five years she has played in several hands
and sang in choirs which won many competitions
and awards.
Passmore was chosen to attend the Ontario Stu-
dent Leadership Music Camp. She plans to pursue
a teaching career in math and music.
Mark Brintnell has been actively involved in
many aspects of student life. He has maintained a
high level of academics while balancing his other
activities.
He has competed on the hockey, basketball, curl-
ing and tennis teams while playing soccer - all five
years producing a Huron -Perth championship and a
WOSSA berth.
Brintnell has also been a member of the guidance
support team, as well as being involved as a S.C.
representative, a prefect and part of the yearbook
staff.
His enjoyable commitment to the school has
been topped off by being elected as the Students'
Council President.
He has worked hard at this job while enjoying it
throughout the year.
Brintnell is planning to attend University in the
fall to continue his education. Mark is the son of
Susan Dolphin of Exeter.
Heather Steckle has made outstanding contribu-
tions to all parts of South Huron.
Besides achieving high academic standards, she
has played five years of volleyball, being co -
captain of the '94 senior girls team as well as help-
ing coach the midget girls team.
A year of soccer has accompanied much support
for athletics including cheering in rain, snow, or
sleet for various teams.
In serving the student body she has been au ac-
tive and driving force in the Guidance and Support
team, the Sexual Assault Prevention Committee,
peer mentoring and the prefect squad.
She also spent a year working on the school
paper.
During her five years she has been involved in
several bands and choirs.
Steckle's future includes training to become an
excellent elementary school teacher.
