Itchy, watering eyes and nose, sneezing and a
generally crumby feeling at this time of year
usually signifies allergic rhinitis otherwise
known as "hay fever'. Today, there are many
medications that are useful in controlling
these annoying symptons. Ask us for advise.
If you are a hay fever sufferer, surround yourself with fragrant,
colourful flowering plants. They don't di,scharge pollen into the
air but rather depend on bees for pollination. The plain plants
and grasses depend on air -born transfer of pollen and are worse
for hay fever victims.
Before swallowing a tablet or capsule medication, "Wet your
whistle" first. A little water will moisten the pathway to the stom-
ach and make swallowing the medication easier.
Feet are pretty important. Did you know they support three times
your body weight with every step?
At Huron Apothecary we try to maintain that good, old-fashioned
neighborhood drug store feeling, where people have time to talk
to each other.

LAWN MOWING
The appearance and health of your lawn is maintained by mowing your lawn at
the proper height A common. very serious error is to mow lawns too short!
A Lawn should always be mowed at least 5 to 6 cm (2 to 2 1/2 inches) above the
ground Mowing height should be increased during the heat of the summer
Grasses need a greater length to survive the summer heat and drought
The lawn should be mowed frequently so that only a small clipping is taken from
the grass plant Never remove more than 1/3 of the total grass blade when mow
ung Removing too much of the blade length at one time stresses the grass and
weakens your lawn.
Mower blades should be kept razor sharp. Thls sharp cut will make a clean
wound that wilt heal quickly. look tidy and resist disease attack It may be neces
sary to have mower blades sharpened three times yearly
