Flowers of Hope Campaign May 1994 Cin 1 L • South Huron Pleads 9loo tr 4 Brownies buying teddy bears for Lucan ambulances LUCAN - Teddy bears are once again part of the emergency supplies to be found in a Lucan ambulance. The village's Brownie group donat- ed a dozen of the soft cuddly toys to the service for use in comforting children in crisis situations. Dianne Gollen and daughter Melissa were on hand at last Tuesday's donation ceremony. They, along with husband Barry and son Justin were in a car accident in December near Zurich. All survived their se- rious injuries, but former -Brownie Melissa was left with a lasting im- pression of the comfort the gift of a teddy bear meant to her as her mother was being taken to hospital. "To know how much that meant to her, I can just imagine what it would mean to an infant child," said Dianne Gollen, who urged the Brownies to take on the project to purchase the bears. David Moore of the Lucan Ambulance said the service has been stocking stuffed animals for the past few years, but appreciates the Brownies' offer to start a steady supply of them. "I have seen a few given to children and it's amazing what it means to them," said Moore. Brownie leader Wendy Thomas said the teddy bears will be a contin- ued project for the girls. "It's kids helping kids," she said, and proposed a teddy -bear picnic may be held in the future to help buy more bears. The Lucan Brownies donated a dozen teddy bears to the Lucan Ambulance Service last Tuesday evening. At back are Da- vid Moore, Melissa Gollen, Dianne Gollen, and Michael Wraith. At far left is Brownie leader Wendy Thomas. S D WALK THURSDAY, MAY 19, ONLY X5.00 MERCHANDISE VOUCHER TO THE FIRST 50 PURCHASING CUSTOMERS AT OUR EXETER STORE ONLY.
