Volunteers honoured
at Queensway
HENSALL - Everyone has had a
very busy week at Queensway. The
volunteers held their monthly or-
ganizational meeting and made
plans for all of May's activities.
The ladies from the Hensall United
Church are holding the May bin-
gos. They were at Queensway
Monday afternoon and the residents
enjoyed playing bingo and winning
a prize.
Tuesday afternoon, Shirley Lu-
ther from the Salvation Army per-
formed the weekly church service.
A number of residents went to
see the final dress rehearsal of Hen-
sall Public School's spring concert
- Joseph and the Amazing Techni-
Youth for
Christ rally
ZURICH - Rob Steckle presided
at the Youth for Christ Rally held
May 7 with many young people in
attendance.
Maria Stepan led the group in
some choruses after which a Bible
quiz was conducted with four
teams. This was the last quiz of the
season and trophies were given out.
Goderich Jumpers got the large tro-
phy and a small trophy was given
to the highest quizzer on each team.
Trophies were awarded to: Maria
Stepan (Goderich Jumpers), Jill
Ramer (Zurich), Tatiana Stepan
(Goderich Guessers) and tied were
Becky and Nancy (Centralia).
Karen Klugston shared her three-
month mission experience in Japan
with the Life Ministries program.
She taught 33 students from ages
five to 75. She taught them English
for one hour and then a minister
would have 20 minutes of chapel
time in their own language. She
would tell them children's stories
and the minister would translate. At
the end of her time there, 11 out of
12 children in her children's class
said they wanted to accept Jesus as
Savior. This was the highlight for
Klugston.
Bob Black, director of London
Youth for Christ told of some inter-
esting experiences that he had in
Bible College as he shared a bed-
room with three of his buddies.
He encouraged the youth to be
actively involved in service. He
told about his life as a young per-
son. Disillusioned when his parents
split, everything he was taught sud-
denly had a lot of cracks in it. His
dad was his hero. But, God had a
hand on his life. Someone from
Y.F.C. came along and said what-
ever you're going through I'll walk
with you. He got involved in caring
for and helping others.
He has been serving for the
Y.F.C. for 24 years. He said God
will show you what you can do to
make a difference.
The group's last event this year
will be a chicken barbecue at Ken
Gashcho's Park on June 18 with
Bernie Smith as speaker.
