Madill of Junior boys are now undefeated in league play EXETER - It was a very busy week for the South Huron District High School boys' soccer teams as they both played three games in four days. The junior Panthers remained undefeated in the Huron conference, in- creasing their record to 5-0 as they beat Central Huron 5-1 on Friday. Trevor Boersma converted a cross from Dave Farquhar before the visit- ing Redmen tied it up on a goal that didn't quite seem to get across the line. Luke Sims had two for the winners with one each from Farquhar, Boer- sma and Scott Rasenberg. Thursday in Wingham, it was 2-1 for the Panthers after the first half but they exploded for five tallies in the second and won 7-1. Boersma and Bryon Ellerington each had two with one goal apiece from Sims, Jeff MacLean and Chad Gilfillan. Last Tuesday in Exeter, Gilfillan converted a penalty kick and Jesse Wa- ters curled one right in from the corner in a 2-1 win over host Goderich. The junior Panthers took their 5-0 conference record into yesterday's game against visiting Wingham and prepare for the Huron semi-final on Thursday at South Huron. It was a little tougher week for the senior Panthers as they lost twice ear- lier in the week but bounced back to hammer Central Huron 8-0. Steve Farquhar and Jeff Lingard were the goals scorers in a 6-2 loss to Goderich on Tuesday and then in Wingham on Thursday, the visiting Pan- thers came up short 3-2. Bryan McAllister and Gavin Snell scored in that one. On Friday Snell netted three goals with two each from Lingard and Mark Brintnell. Farquhar had the other goal in the 8-0 win. Wingham. Juniors head to finals: The jun- ior Panthers finished off the Huron Conference regular league play on Thursday with a big 4-0 win over Goderich. Helen Theophilopoulos had three goals with the other from Megan Ratz. The juniors ended with a 4-0 unscored upon record which they will take against either Goderich or Central Huron on Tuesday in the Huron final. On Saturday while the seniors were in West Lorne, the juniors competed in the London Oakridge Senior Tournament. "The juniors played well, they played against all senior teams," said coach Dave Cox. South Huron lost 2-0 to Sarnia Northern, were beaten 3-0 by Lon- don Lucas and battled to a scoreless draw with East Elgin. "We outplayed East Elgin but we couldn't score," said Cox. The juniors will try and stay in shape awaiting the Huron final by playing London's John Paul II in a couple of exhibition games.
