Forthcoming marriage - Bob
and Jean Crawford, Exeter,
are pleased to announce the
forthcoming marriage of their
daughter, Kimberly Ann to
Timothy Andrew, son of Gerry
and Carol Purbrick, Hawkes-
bury, Ontario. The wedding
will take place May 21, 1994
at 6:00 p.m., Exeter United
Church.

VARNA - The Stan Lee Club
will meet at the Complex on May
18 at 8 p.m.
Stan Lee Club arranged the pro-
gram for the April Birthday Party
for residents at Huronview. It start -i
ed off with a short sing song with
Floyd McAsh at the piano. A group
of line dancers from Varna and
Bayfield area did several numbers.
Leona McBride with her trumpet
accompanied by Floyd McAsh and
Bill Pepper provided musical num-
bers that residents really seemed to
enjoy, judging by the clapping and
toe -tapping. Margaret Hayter gave
some humourous readings. Anna
Keys read the birthday list for
April. Several Stan Lee Club ladies
helped serve tea and cookies.
The sympathy of the community
is extended to Gladys Peck and
family following the recent sudden
death of Harold. Flowers wcie
placed in both Varna and Goshen
churches in memory of him, by the
family.

Joyce Dowson opened the Varna
U.C.W. meeting with a short poem.
The U.C.W. ladies will he conduct-
ing the church service on May 15.
Dowson thanked those who
helped at the Dessert Euchre and
Bake Sate. Dowson, Margaret
Hayter and Carol Simons attended
the Annual Meeting for the London
Conference for U.C.W.'s in Strat-
ford, the theme being "Living Our
Vision". Betty J. Wiley was the
speaker.
Camp Menesetung Campsite Ex-
perience will be June 6 this year.
Each woman is asked to bring two
to three dozen cookies to the next
meeting which is going to be a
week later on Junc 9 at Debra Rath -
well's home. There will be a bale
packed at the end of May so if you
have any items for it !cave them at
the church. Members are reminded
to keep collecting Campbell soup
labels and pop tabs.
Helen Taylor, Sharon Chuter and
Ruth Johnston were in charge of
the devotion. Guest speaker Carol
Steckle explained to everyone
about annuals and whether there
are any new plants, how you ferti-
lize them and where you should
plant them. You should fertilize
flowers in the flowerbeds about
every two weeks and hanging pots
about once a month.
Taylor thanked her for her inter-
esting talk and Chutcr presented
her with a gift.

The fourth meeting of the Shut-
terhugs was held May 3 at 7:30
p.m. at the home of Bill Consist.
Dan Homes, a professional photog-
rapher spoke to them about photog-
raphy. He told them many different
things, answered their questions
and showed them some of his pho-
tographs. He coming to
their Achicvcm6M gram.
To end the meeting they showed
the pictures that they were sup-
posed to bring that told them some-
thing about that person.

Blue Water Rest Home
Line dancing demonstrated
ZURICH - Tuesday evening the
Auxiliary members visited Blue
Water Rest Home to entertain the
residents with Mary Ellen Ginge-
rich as Chairperson.
Marie and Jerome Denomme's
granddaughter Karen Denomme of
London played several tunes on her
keyboard. A poem "A Mother's
Love" was read by Mary Lou De-
nomme. The residents experienced
the new trend as Martha Ducharme,
Carol Ducharme, Phil and Vonnie
Overholt, Dick and Barb Rau, Clar-
ence Rau, Bev and Ron Desch and
Linda and Stewart Gingerich
showed them how to line dance.
Muffins, cupcakes and refresh-
ments were served by Marie De-
nomme, Irene Clausius, Donna
Merner and Mary Lou Denomme.
Rev. Cordell Parsons, Exeter
United Church, conducted Thurs-
day afternoon Chapel Service. Fr.
Matthias Wronski, St. Boniface
Church, Zurich celebrated Mass.
The Friday afternoon bus trip
took residents Bernice Kennedy,
Dorothy Bapty, Catherine Riehl,
Leonard Erb, Harold (Tiny) Thiel,
Pearl Miller, Bob Stark and Alice
Knowles on a spin into the country

and a tour of rest homes to see
where the other folk live. They
viewed Parkhill Nursing Home and
Chateau Gardens and the Ailsa
Craig Home. On the way back they
viewed the new addition of Huron
Country Playhouse, Grand Bend.
Saturday, members of the
Home's Auxiliary held a Bake Sale
in the auditorium of BWRH. Every-
one enjoyed the selection of yunt-
mie foods and since most of there
forgot to indulge on May 5, "forget
the calories day" this was a good
chance to catch up.
The female residents enjoyed
their day as members of the Auxil-
iary pinned a carnation on their
frock in honour of Mother's Day.
Leo Hoffman was the winner for a
draw on a Mother's Day Cake and
Bonnie Keller won the draw for a
baby crib quilt.
Welcome home Roy Gingerich of
BWRH Apartments who had been
at South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Also, welcome home Lawrence
(Paddy) Bedard who visited South
Huron Hospital, Exeter and Alex
andra Marine and General Hospital
Goderich for a few days.
