Earlier this month, the doors at the Grand Bend Ontario Pro- vincial Police detachment opened for what they hope to be a quite summer. Prior to the move, the 12 - month a year of- fice was located at the Pinery Pro- vincial Park. Grand Bend in the past has had its own detach- ment in the sum- mer but the new one, located on Main Street will now be year-round. The Pinery office is closed and Sgt. Gord Bruce and his staff are enjoying the new, spa- cious building in the village. "It's going to take some time to get used to," said Bruce. "The Grand Bend people are extreme- ly happy. Thedford and Port Franks aren't as happy." On May 17, Bruce and the five full-time officers will be joined by others who come from across the province to make up the summer complement of three sergeants and 14 officers. Bruce doesn't feel policing in the area will change that much. "I don't believe it will change at all." The new build- ing has three "bull- pen" holding rooms another cell for young offend- ers and one for fe- males. "Young Offend- ers have to be sep- arated from the adults," said "The Grand Bend people are extremely happy. Thedford and Port Franks aren't as happy."
