Penny sale in May
HENSALL - The regular month-
ly meeting of Hensall Legion
Branch 468 was held April 13.
This year celebrations will mark
the 50th anniversary of the end of
World War II. These celebrations
will stretch from June 6, the anni-
versary of D -Day, through to No-
vember I I, 1995.
A motion was passed to donate
$50.00 to the Cancer Society.
Elections of officers was held
with the following results: Presi-
dent Larry Uyl; first vice president
Pete Zwaan; second vice president
Brian Fink; secretary treasurer Bea
Uyl; Seargeant-at-Arms Dave
Smale; executive committee Lillian
Baynharn, Jack Simmons, Randy
Bedard, Wilmer Dalrymple, and
John McAllister.
Installation ceremonies will take
place in Blyth on May 27.
Legion Ladies Auxiliary
The Hensall Legion Ladies Aux-
iliary met April 12. President Iva
Reid chaired the meeting. Members
were informed of Auxiliary Zone
C -1's convention to he held in
Goderich on April 24.
Invitations were read from Luck -
now and Mitchell to attend SOth
birthday parties. The Sports Officer
gave her report on several bowling
tournaments in Seaforth and Strath-
roy.
The Auxiliary voted to adopt an-
Jther veteran from Parkwood Hos-
pital in London.
Plans were finalized for the annu-
al penny sale to be run in the last
week of May with the draw on June
4. Several upcoming banquets were
also discussed.
Nominations and elections were
held for officers for the term run-
ning from June 1993 to 1994.
The results of the elections are as
follows: president Iva Reid; first
vice president Joan Beierling; sec-
retary Donna Smale; treasurer Lil-
lian Beer; Seargeant-at-Arms Joyce
Willert; Executive committee Vera
Smale, Jean Munn, Beatrice Uyl.
A joint installation with the Le-
gion is to be held in Blyth in May.
United Church
Rev. Annen conducted_4Tfbrning
worship at Hensall United Church
with Chuck Malette as organist.
Nearly 400 people attended the
hot beef supper at the United
Church.
Congratulations to Patti Lenting
and Dan Burdick, a recent bridal
couple.
The official board of Hensall
United Church will meet May 20.
Photo contest
The Hensall Economic Develop-
ment Committee has announced the
following categories for the 1994
photo contest in Hensall: 1. Land-
scape/nature; 2. People; 3. Humour.
Prize money of $50 for first; $30
for second and $20 for third will be
awarded in each category. Contest
rules and entry forms are available
at the Hensall Municipal Office,
108 King street, Hensall, and at the
Hensall Library. Entries will be on
display at the Hensall Spring Fair
June 10 and 11.

Yard sale
The Village of Hensall's Annual
Village -Wide Yard Sale will be
Saturday, May 28. This marks the
10th anniversary of the annual
event, and many special events are
planned.
The Hensall Municipal office,
262-2812, is accepting sale regis-
trations until May 6. Interested par-
ties can register their sale/special
event free of charge for the place -
mat map. The map is a service of
the Hensall Economic Qevelop-
ment Committee and B.I.A., and is
circulated to Huron County Restau-
rants.
