My birthday suit has expanded I know Which makes it easier deciding what has to go. Should I join Weight Watchers and save the expense Of a new wardrobe, that would make more sense. But fashions change, they might be obsolete Before I control what I love to eat. Tired of being a spectator to life and romance There's the shoes that I wore when I learned to dance I owe Arthur Murray for my new social life That opened new doors and found me a wife. That tuxedo that's black, it might cause a laugh. "It's too somber and outdated" says my better half "Give it away it would fit you like tights" Another friend gone that shared real swinging nights. My wedding suit which honoured my wife As we said sacred vows which changed my life Will it still fit, should I give it away? No! It's a pleasant reminder of er glorious day. As I emptied my closet from the front to the rear I was reminded of memories of yesteryear Of social events, people I'd love to see Who have changed my life and my destiny. Each garment reflected past events good and bad New friends and the passing of my Mom and Dad. I emptied out pockets of their hidden treasures With thanks for all of my life's many pleasures. This excursion through time asted all of the day From my high school years till now when I'm grey. These closet skeletons could tell quite a tale If all started to talk at our tewn's rummage sale.
