Because an auto- mobile's fuel -injector nozzle is roughly about the diameter of a hu- man hair, it takes just a small amount of dirt or debris to cause se- rious blockage problems. Once foraged, fuel injector deposits can reduce fuel -efficiency and adverse- ly affect overall engine perfor- mance. Without proper. care, this could lead to an expensive repair bill. So car owners should help keep their car's fuel systems clean. According to the experts at First Brands Corp., the maker of STP® automotive products, people are turning to fuel additives in order to keep their cars' fuel -injection systems running a peak efficiency. Keeping deposits from returning is particularly important during_the summer months. With vehicle owners relying on their cars for - weekend outings, vacations and recreation, fuel -efficiency and en- gine performance are critical. Using a fuel -injector cleaner like STP® Super Concentrated Fuel In- jector CleanerT"t, will help clean and condition your entire fuel - delivery system. Cleaning clogged injectors will increase fuel - efficiency and reduce emissions. Cars that are experiencing rough idling and decreased acceleration can also benefit from fuel -injector cleaners. By regularly using a fuel addi- tive, like STP Super Concentrated Fuel Injector Cleaner, car owners can clean their fuel injection sys- tems and help keep harmful depos- its from coming back. The formula in STP Super Concentrated Fuel Injector Cleaner contains a highly concentrated detergent that quickly dissolves accumulated deposits and cleans dirty fuel injectors. One treatment will instantly help unclog a car's dirty injectors. Regular vehi- cle maintenance practices should include adding a I2 -ounce bottle to a full tank of gas every 2,500 miles to help maintain a vehicle's maxi- mum operating efficiency and per- formance. So clean your car's entire fuel - delivery system before your car suffers loss of performance or is in the shop for repairs instead of on the road. Vehicles represent a sizeable -investment Is your old car squeezing you for everything you're worth? Are you fighting the urge, with eve- ry last ounce of determination, to head for the dealer's show- room or used car lot? Well, whether it's the once -trusty old family sedan, the once -shiny sports car or the pick- up that was once the envy of truckers from Nova Scotia to British Columbia, your once -prized vehicle probably represented a sizeable investment. Thinking about investing perhaps no more than the amount of a downpayment to fix it up may just make the soundest financial sense. A little money can go a long way toward upgrading a car. Here's how to consider this option objectively: I. Visit a mechanic and let him inspect your car. After compiling a list of mechanical needs, he can approximate the cost to put it back in good shape. If the car is paid for, you'll probably save money by giving it a new lease on life. Further, by having it re- paired, you can make your car serviceable for an- other two to three years while saving toward its re- placement. After all, yevell even have more value to bargain with when ytifre ready to trade! 2. Diagnosing mechanical problems is one consid- eration, but how about a manicure? Car owners should look to buffing out the paint job, fixing dent- ed fenders or replacing missing trim. Some touch-up work or perhaps a new paint job may be needed. How about pin stripes or adding rims to dress up the tires a bit? 3. Next, look at the interior. Does the fabric need to be cleaned and/or repaired? Would a sun roof make "Old Faithful" snazzier? To estimate the costs of a cosmetic upgrading you'll need the help of a body and paint shop plus an uphol- stery and trim professional. If you decide to revamp the car you already own, depending upon the extent of the project, you may need a little help from your bank. Most banks will be eager to finance a loan for repairs on an older car - the sum will be less and therefore a reduced risk. The cus- tomer's payments will be smaller and on a shorter term. So the options beckon: • a new car that may strain the budget and depre- ciate greatly once you drive off the lot; • a used car that's an unknown; and • the once -beloved car you already own. Remember, regardless of the work your car requires, it won't likely be as costly as the first two options! Put the pencil to it and arrive at a conclusive figure. Treat your car to a makeover or an upgrade and, in return, it will give you extended years of driving enjoyment. ►Af Dodge tic T 1CHRYSLERI EXETER CHRYSLER John Bllcke Service Manager ii 1 Plymotdfi t7cLgc Tram [CHRYSLER GELLt 4044-' A '‘Il)V.
