VARNA - The Varna Crokinole
Club completed their second suc-
cessful season with a supper at the
Blue Fountain in Clinton and an
open crokinole party at the Varna
Church.
Thirty two members, spares,
spouses and friends attended the
supper while 37 took part in the
crokinole games. Winning prizes
went to: Youth under sixteen, Tre-
vor Trewartha; High man, Ray-
mond Beierling; High lady, Cheryl!
Trewartha.
Some players won draw prizes
donated by Joan Beierling.
The club of sixteen members and
fourteen spares had a season of four ,
nights each of singles play, doubles
play and open nights. Joe Fulop,
two time Ontario Champion, was
awarded the club trophy for high
average for 1993-94.
The club will begin play in the
fall on Tuesday, October 24 and
will meet the second and fourth
Tuesday of each month in the base-
ment of. the Varna United Church.
New members welcome.
The last day of baseball registra-
tion is to be held Saturday, April 9
from 10 to 12 noon at the Stanley
Township Complex.
The Annual Canoe Poker Rally
will be held Sunday, April 10 with
registration from 12 to 1 p.m.
Thursday, April 7 the Varna
U.C.W. will meet in the Varna
Church at 8 p.m. Their dessert eu-
chre will he held Wednesday, April
13 at 12:30 p.m. sharp. Dessert is to
be served first with euchre to fol-
low and baking to be sold with
many door prizes to be given out.
April 10 the Teen Set will meet
in the parking lot of Brucefield
United Church at 5 p.m. to go to
movies in London. They can con-
tact Miriam Jones.

Goshen U.C.W.'s to their Spring

OPP investigating three
local break-ins
EXETER - The OPP are investi-
gating three break-ins this past
week, one of which included the
theft of a pickup truck.
Police say an Usborne Township
man reported his home broken into
last Tuesday. Stolen from the
home was a quantity of alcohol, say
police. A pickup truck was also
• taken from the property. but was
later recovered by police.
The same day, police investigated
a break-in at a cottage on 1.ake
Road West in Hay Township.
However, police say it appears
nothing was taken by the intruders.
Stephen Central School was
broken into sometime last Wednes-
day, but again, investigators believe
nothing was stolen.
Huron Tractor in Exeter was the
victim of a theft last Wednesday.
Removed and stolen from a John
Deere planter at the dealership was
a seeding monitor described as a
Computer Track 150.
Allen's Country Cafe in Dash-
wood has reported the theft last
Monday of approximately 100
scratch bingo type lottery tickets.
Last Sunday, a woman attending
Exeter United Church reported her
purse stolen to police, and during
the week there were several more
thefts from vehicles in the area.
Police are once again reminding
motorists to not leave their cars un-
locked.
