Skit performed by Sunday School

GRANTON - The Anglican par-
ish bible study group met at the rec-
tory in Kirkton March 23, led by
Rev. Stephen Emery.
At the St. Thomas' Anglican
church on Sunday, Rev. Emery led
the service of Holy Communion for
the Sunday of the Passion with the
liturgy of the Palrns. Ken French
assisted by reading the processional
gospel.
The Passion Narrative of St.
Mark was read by Rev. Emery atter
which he reelected that Jesus is the
expression of the love of God for
all people.
A parish Maundy Thursday ser-
vice will be held at St. Paul's, Kirk -
ton at 7:30 p.m. and a Good Friday
Rain or shine
service at Granton, also at 7:30
p.m.
At the Granton United Church on
Palm Sunday, Pastor Nonnalie
Voakes gave a sermon about 'The
Danger of being King'.
During the children's time, April
Bryan was the narrator for the skit
about the Feast of the Passover
which was acted by the Sunday
School.
Mary Waters led the reading of
the psalm and the Christ Candle
was lit by Stephanie Mills. 'Neath
the Olive Trees' was the anthem
sung by the choir.
The Good Friday service at the
church is at 7:30 p.m. and the East-
er Sunrise Service, followed by
breakfast, starts at 7:30 a.m.
Granton 4-H club
The No. I Granton 4-11 Club met
at the home of leader Deanna Beat-
on March 23 to start their cooking
Lourse.
The other leader is Margaret
Bryan. Officers elected were Jean
Beans as president, Lee Anne Kel-
ly as vice-president, and the office
of secretary will be rotated. Two
groups were formed and took turns
making veggie squares or micro -
saved brownies and playing
games.
Jean and Susan Bryan provided a
drink for the snack time, and Lee
Anne Kelly and Melanie Beatson
,were the clean-up committee.
Susan Bryan was the secretary
and reporter.
Easter egg hunt planned

ZURICH - Winners from draws made at Foodland
recently are: Rini Erb, who won a box of pasta and
Primo products; Jane Bedard, who won a child's
wagon; and Wanda Regier who won a child's G.T.
Snowracer.
An Easter Egg Hunt will be held for children on
April 2 at the Zurich Arena playground, rain or shine.
The activities, sponsored by the Optimist Club, begin
at 10:00 a.m.

Happy Birthday wishes from the community go to
Jeffrey Beauchamp on March 27; Marion Sweeney
on the 25th; Vonnie Schenk and Marie Gelinas Junior
on the 28th; Joey Overholt on March 30 and Chantel
Gelinas on March 31.
A Buck and Doe was heft' Saturday for Maureen
VandenBoomen and. Dale Regier at the Zurich Com-
munity Centre. The couple are to be married April
16.
Maxime Dennie Masse, son of Richard and Karen
Masse was baptized March 20 at St. Boniface Church
by Fr. Wronski.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery are extended to
Lyda Gandier who is a patient in Exeter Hospital.
Carmel Sweeney and daughter Meagan returned
home Friday after a two week holiday, visiting with
several relatives, sisters, girlfriends, cousins and
mother in Windsor, Chatham and Leamington, for the
March Break. Renese Sweeney and friend Jenny also
spent a week in Toronto visiting with her sister Beth
Sweeney.
Glenn and Marg Neeb returned home Sunday, after
a two week holiday at Fort Meyers, Florida where
they visited with Lionel and Rebecca Wilder, who
have spent the past month there.
Congratulations to Leona Corriveau who celebrated
her 75th birthday in Windsor on March 16, and to her
husband Franklin, whose birthday was March 15.
Sympathy of the community goes to the family and
relatives of the late Alfred Denomme who passed
away on March 15.
Harvey Gelinas, beloved husband of Haybern,
passed away on March 25, Several friends and rela-
tives from Zurich attended his funeral in London.
Leandro and Theresa Bedard spent a couple of days
in Windsor last week with their daughter Elizabeth,
who attends university there.
Don't forget to turn your clock ahead one hour this
Saturday, April 2.

nounce the forthcoming mar-
riage of their children Sandra

take place on April 9, 1994
at the Zurich Mennonite
Church.

CENTRALIA - The Sunday
School children presented palm
fronds to everyone as they arrived
for the Palm Sunday service at Cen-
tralia United Church.
The service was led by the young
people who were confirmed at Cen-
tralia and Zion West. They con-
ducted prayers, presented a skit,
and gave readings.
The congregation learned the his-
tory of the United Church and
about educational visits the young
people took to a mosque and syna-
gogue in London.
Rev. Peggy Campbell -Geddes
and Rev. Clare Geddes accompa-
nied the group to Toronto for a few
days during March break. The
young people visited the Science
Centre, China Town, Refugee
House, and the head office of the
United Church of Canada while bil-
leted at a local church.
Congratulations to Jared French,
Beth -Ann Hern, Brandy Hern, Mar-
ilou Hern, Matthew Jaques, Dawn
Morley, Crystal Knee, and Kurt
Mills on their confirmation. A re-
ception was heed following the ser-
vice at Centralia to honour these
young people.
Holy Communion was also con-
ducted in preparation for the Easter
event.
At the last meeting of the joint
session, the elders considered hold-
ing church services at 10:00 a.m. in
July and alternating each Sunday
between Zion West and Centralia.
They'd appreciate feedback from
church members on this proposal .

a fun and competitive afternoon.

in the ladies' division. Dorothy
Bullock won the special. Everyone
is invited to the next euchre after-
noon at 2:30 p.m. on April 4 at
Heywood's.
The Centralia Stewards will pre-'
pare a bacon and egg breakfast on'
April 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30'
