ZURICH - All the hard
work of the Zurich and
Area Figure Skating Club
paid off on the weekend
as they presented their
annual skating carnival
dubbed `Sounds of Music'.
Club members
performed in front of a
crowded arena on Sunday
afternoon, dazzling the
spectators with skill
mixed with a bit of fun.
On Saturday, club
members had their final
dress rehearsal to fine
tune their performances.
In total there were 25
performances, including
seven solo acts.
Some of the younger
acts proved that skating is
a mix of skill and
showmanship as one
young Elvis
impersonator won over
the audience with his
charm.
As well, guest skater
Kathy Merner was on
hand performing to the
delight of the crowd and
club skaters.
By the end of the event
the skaters had shown on
the ice what the coaches
have tried to impress
upon them, "Your attitude
is what determines your
success.
"See very clearly your
goal, and each day make
positive steps in that
direction; realizing there
may be obstacles to
overcome and negative
influences to be dealt
with, but the desire and
drive will see you to your
successful end result."
