Annual Antique Sale and Show in Lucan.
Brownies entertaisidents
of Blue Watpr Rest Home
ZURICH - Tuesday aftengoon the Brownies of Zurich visited the
residents of Blue Water Rest Home to provide a program of action
songs under the leadership of Nicole Veroude, Debbie Overholt,
Wendy Masse, Cheryl Lalonde and Mary Lou Masse. The residents
were each presented with a pin and shamrock the Brownies had
made.
Tuesday evening the Christian Reformed Church entertained the
residents of Blue Water. Peter Visscher was chairperson, with Ste-
ven Poortinga as pianist for an evening of Easter hymns. Visscher,
Herman and Klaus VanWieren sang "The Holy City" and the mem-
bers joined in for other selections such as "Christ the Lord is Risen
Today", "Were You There" and "Beneath the Cross of Jesus."
The Dutch Easter song of the evening was "Daar•Juicht Een Toon,
Daar Klinkt Een Stem" meaning the power of Easter. Poems "The •
Three Crosses" and "After Winter God Sends the Spring" were read
by Annie Zandbergen and Visscher. Visscher also assured the resi-
dents that in spite of recent snow, spring was not far away since he
had seen live robins and 21 deer on his way to the rest home. The
group enjoyed cookies, refreshments and mingling with the residents
after the program.
Pastor Lesley Hohner, associate minister at Zion Lutheran Church,
Dashwood conducted Thursday afternoon Chapel Service. Fr. Mat-
thias Wronski, St. Boniface Church, Zurich celebrated Mass.
Thursday evening the residents enjoyed an evening of "Wearing
Green" with Home Adjuvant Cathy Shantz in charge. Many staff
and residents had donned green for St. Patrick's Day.
Monday afternoon the residents gathered in the auditorium to view
the video of the recent wedding of Iry and Iiia Steintnann.
Welcome back to Lawrence (Paddy) Bedard, who spent a few
days at South Huron Hospital, Exeter,
Condolences go to the family of the late Alfred Denomme of Ma-
plewoods Apartments who passed away on March 15 at South Hu-
ron Hospital, Exeter. In particular, deepest sympathy to Loftus De-
nomme, a resident at the Home and Lottie Grenier a tenant at
Maplewoods Apartment who had lost another brother Gus earlier
this year.
Staff members of Geri Fashions Mobile Clothing Store make their
annual visit to the Home April 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to display
their clothing for seniors and people with special needs.

GRANTON - The Granton Opti-
mist Club sponsored several events
last week at the Masonic Hall dur-
ing the March school break.
On Monday morning, 32 children
gathered at the hall and learned
how to do podgy swans and tubs
for planters, thanks to Cathie West -
man.
On Wednesday morning, 29 of
them returned to finish their pro-
jects and then made bunny baskets
and filled them with treats.
On Friday, March 18, they enter-
tained the 50 -plus adults at a soup
and sandwich noon luncheon which
was followed by euchre.
Prize winners for high scores
were Lorna Ellyatt and Ross Mills.
for Ione hands Emerson Wallis, and
for low scores Connie Beausodeil
and Cathie Westman, plus every-
body else received a gift also.
Annual beach party
On Saturday, the Optimists spon-
sored the annual beach party hosted
by Trudy and Juanita Kop. Games
and crafts were enjoyed, followed
by refreshments of hot dogs, ice
cream cakes and juice. Everyone
took home a part of the beach.
Special appreciation to every-
body who helped in any way.
Upcoming events include a hike
safety month in May.
At the St. Thomas' Anglican
Church on Sunday, March 20, the
Rev. Stephen Emery celebrated the
Holy Eucharist and his message
was about knowing God's love and
redemption and gaining eternal life.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, Pastor Normalie Voakes
chose as her sermon topic "Jour-
neying toward Calvary" (part 3).
The Sunday School Children
took part in a skit 'Jesus goes into
Jerusalem', narrated by Nancy
Mills. Matthew McRohert removed
the Lily from the Cross for the fifth
Sunday of Lent.
The choir sang an anthem enti-
tled 'The Easter Pathway'.
Lunch and a crokinole party fol-
lowed the service for the Sunday
School children, parents and
friends.
Granton W.I. meeting
Isabelle Harlton was the hostess
for the Granton Women's Institute
meeting on Tuesday afternoon,
March 15 commencing with a des-
sert lunch served by Elsie Dann,
Margaret Oakley and the hostess.
Muriel Lewis opened the meeting
with the W.I. Ode, Mary Stewart
Collect and the Lord's Prayer and
read a poem 'Spring at Winter's
End'.
During the business, the program
for the district annual was reviewed
and a donation made to thc 4-H
club.
The roll call was answered by
naming a favourite craft and the
motto was "Keep your face toward
the sun and your shadow will fall
behind you".

bourliness'.
The program topic was Canada in
Industries when Dann read current
events on inflation and jobs and
an article about growing cranber-
ries.
She also read a poem "green
Scene' and in a light vein "remem-
ber when' about the uses for string,
and how goose feathers chased
chills in ticks and comforters. Oak-
ley brought the program to a close
with a reading about poetry.
