Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics
"The torch will be carried through-
out the region in Dashwood, Zu-
rich, Hensall and Exeter."
Dear Editor:
The growth and achievement
of the Ontario Law Enforce-
ment Torch Run for Special
Olympics can continue if we
combine to maintain the mo-
mentum already established. Members of the Exeter
O.P.P. and other Police Services across the province
are focusing their charitable efforts at supporting
mentally challenged youth through the Torch Run.
It is an honour to contribute to the well being and
joy of this very special group of people.
This year marks the eighth year law enforcement
runners, at the direction of the Ontario Association
of Chiefs of Police, will take up the torch in a cross -
province relay in support of Ontario Special Olym-
pics, a grass roots, year-round sports program for
children and adults who are developmentally handi-
capped. The torch carried during the Law Enforce-
ment Torch Run represents the "Flame of Hope"
and the values of Special Olympics - Skill, Sharing,
Courage and Joy.
The Exeter O.P.P. Law Enforcement Torch Run
takes place on Tuesday, May 31, 1994. The torch
will be carried throughout the region in Dashwood,
Zurich, Hensall and Exeter.
In the spirit of this worthwhile cause, we ask for
the support of your organization. It is your private
and corporate donations that allow)he expansion of
the Special Olympic Programs that benefit these
special young athletes.
Please consider our financial request. Tax receipts
will be issued for all donations over ten dollars. A
colourful "Torch Run Supporter" placard for public
display will be forwarded to you upon receipt of
your contribution. We encourage you to display this
placard.
If you or any of your employees wish to partici-
pate, please advise. Our Law Enforcement Torch
Run Co-ordinator for 1994 is Rod Herbert, Exeter
O.P.P. and can be reached at 235-1300 if you re-
quire further information.
Cheque may be made payable to: Ontario Special
Olympics and forwarded to Exeter O.P.P., 245
