Sims fires four as bantam series tied up
EXETER - What a night for Luke Sims!
The Exeter Lincolns' centre had four goals, two of them in overtime to
pace his team to a 4-2 win over visiting Glencoe Saturday night at the
South Huron Recreation Centre.
Exeter took the first game of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association
bantam 'D' semi-final series.
Sunday in Glencoe, Exeter came up short in a 4-3 contest. Game Three
goes Saturday in Glencoe at 8:30 p.m.
Coming in with a quarter -final elimination of Ilderton, the Lincolns
trailed 2-0 in the first period before Sims got his first of four with just 28
seconds left in the opening frame.
He went in alone and put the puck up high into the corner to cut the visi-
tors lead in half. Linemate Bryon Ellerington drew the assist. Just 27 sec-
onds into the second, Sims parked himself in front of the net and convert-
ed a perfect passing play which saw Brock Weiss and Lucas Forrest draw
the assists.
Glencoe had lots of powerplays including a two man advantage for 1:44
in the second as well as another big one when Exeter's Shaun Simpson left
for checking from behind.
But Lincolns' goalie Nathan Hern made some huge saves all game and
his big glove helped keep the hosts in contention.
Late in the third period Glencoe's Greg Thornicroft was given a five
minute slashing penalty which carried into the overtime where Sims got
the winner.
A long shot from the blueline was tipped by Sims to make it 3-2 as Lar-
ry Cole and Weiss got the assists. Just 26 seconds later Sims got his fourth
as he one -timed it into the top corner as Weiss collected his third assist of
the night and Ryan Freiter also assisted.
Lambeth. eliminates Legions
LAMBETH - The OMHA peewee 'CC' quarter -final series between Ex-
eter Legion and Lambeth went right to the wire but on Saturday it was
Lambeth advancing and the Legion being eliminated.
In Lambeth the visitors lost 8-3 as Kian MacDougall, Jeff Campbell and
Tyler Bourne scored for Exeter. Greg Geoffrey had a pair of assists.
OMHA playoffs'
Wednesday in Exeter, the Legions fought hard and pushed the series to a
final game as they won a gutsy 5-4 affair.
Leading the offence was Chad Dalrymple as he netted one goal and
helped set up two others. David Marshall had a goal and an assist while
Campbell, Geoffrey and MacDougall also assisted.
Bourne had three assists, Cam Dougall helped out on two and Chad
Monteith also set up one.
Jeffrey has Storm brewing
ZURICH - The Storm is brewing and they're just one game away from
winning the WOAA peewee final. This is also the OMHA 'E' quarter-
finals.
Sunday afternoon in Zurich, Jarrett Jeffrey scored four goals to pace the
hosts to a 6-4 win over Wallace. Zurich now leads the best -of -five series
two games to one. The next game is Wednesday in Wallace.
Brad Brown had a goal and four assists while linemate Matthew De-
nomme had a goal and an assist. Also helping set up the goals were Shawn
Grainger, Jennifer Jeffrey and Mike Laporte.
Storm goalie Darryl Smale was outstanding as he made several big saves
in the final few minutes.
Lucan midgets beaten out
PT. STANLEY - A pair of weekend games saw the Lucan midgets elim-
inated from OMHA 'DD' playoff action.
Friday night in Lucan, the hosts came up short 5-3 to Pt. Stanley which
tied the series at two points each. Ryan Herbert, Jason Hodgson and Brent
Mills scored while Steve Dame had two assists and Tracey Mitchell and
Steve Greenlee helped out on the goals.
Saturday in the deciding game in Pt. Stanley, Steve Dame scored the
lone goal in a 2-1 loss.
Stephen needs one more
HURON PARK - Stephen Township bantams are just one game away
from winning their quarter -final OMHA 'E' series with Wallace.
Last Tuesday night, Stephen pulled out a slim 2-1 win in the series open-
er. Matt Glavin and Tim Morgan scored with assists to Jeff Glavin, Derek
Swietzer and Chris Reaburn.
On Saturday, Matt Glavin had two goals and Ben McCann had a goal
and an assist in a 4-3 win. Also scoring was Jeff Glavin while Kurt Mills,
Ian Becker, Jeremy Slater, John Rutten and Jeff Glover assisted.
Goalie Jason Glavin picked up both wins. Stephen will try to gain a trip
to the semi-finals when they travel to Wallace on Friday.
Broncos advance to semis
EXETER - It's off to the OMHA semi-finals for the Exeter Atom Bron-
cos. Sunday in Exeter they skated to a 4-2 win while coming up with a
much needed 9-5 win the day before in Dresden.
The Broncos will now take on Mitchell in the semis which begin in Ex-
eter tonight at 6:20 p.m. The winner will take on either Delhi or Campbell -
ford.
In Exeter on Sunday Mike Seip was the big sniper as he had three goals
with the other going to Brandon Martin. Craig Overholt had a big game
with three assists while Tyler Taylor, Jared Bourne and Barry Parsons also
assisted.
Overholt had a goal and four assists in Saturday's big win as Seip fired
three and Mark Bilinksky added two. Martin had two goals and as many
assists while Bourne, Ryan Groot, Ben Rader and Matt Rowe helped set
up goals.
Ryan Sullivan was in net for both wins.

game with Glencoe. That series is now tied at a game each. against Wallace in Sunday afternoon's game in Zurich. The Generals won 7-1 and are now in the OMHA semi-finals.
