Hensall and area community drop-in Come join in the fun By Liz Sangster HENSALL - The Hensall and Area community drop-in will be held Thursday March 17 at the Hen- sall United Church. Join the group for fun and fellow- ship and to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and the spring thaw. Following lunch are flexibility exercises, line danc- es and games. Sandra Filtz, Public Health Nurse will be speaking and will also be available for consulta- tion. Foot care is provided at 10 a.m. First come, first serve and there is a minimal charge. Cost for the day is $4 per person ($1. for afternoon activities only). Contact Margaret Cole 262-2304 by Monday before noon, if you're not on the calling list. The afternoon ladies' group of the Hensall United Church met March 3 at the church. Leader, Elva For- rest read a poem, "I Am Down Here, You Are Up There" followed by prayer. The theme of Rena Cald- well's devotion was "Spring and Planting". Audrey Christie read the minutes of the February and the executive meetings. Poems were read by Mary Alexander and Evelyn 'McBeath. The pianist for the evening was Hilda Payne. The treasurer's re- port was givenand the meeting closed with Hymn #15 and the Mizbah Benediction. Olga Chipchase and Rena Caldwell served a St. Patrick's Day lunch. "Go See and Act" was the theme for the World Day of Prayer service, held at Carmel Presbyterian Church Friday. Jan Baker, president of the Carmel P.C.W., welcomed the ladies and Rev. Henry Annen to the service. Kathy Bell, Winnie Skea, Margaret Varley and Bev Moir, representing Carmel church took part in the impressive service. Kay Mock, Kay Elder, Elva Forrest and Lorna Spencer, from Hensall United Church conducted a candle lighting service. Rev. Annen gave an inspiring address. The afternoon closed with a social time and tea. The anniversary service .`of Carmel Presbyterian will be held on May 15, the speaker will be Ross Dai- ly. The Presbyterian Church Women will hold a Spring Luncheon to be held on April 26. Parkview Place Seniors informed about programs LUCAN - The Lucan Lions Parkview Place had a busy but short month in February. They were from north London and pro- vided an evening of enjoyment singing Barber shop harmony. The evening closed with a birthday cake for the five monthly cele- brants. Jim Toohey won the door prize. A well attended meeting was held February 21 in the common room concerning the extended pro- grams for seniors in Middlesex County. They are both recovering nicely. The Knights of Columbus held their usual euchre the third Thurs- day of the month with eight tables. Cribbage is held every Friday morning. The foot clinic is held the second Wednesday of the month in the af- ternoon. Other seniors in the com- munity are welcome to these activ- ities.
