SHOOT OUTS, GOOD OR BAD?... CONTINUED
Now picture this in TORONTO, GILMOUR against
FEDEROV or YZERMAN, or in NEW YORK with MESSIER
against LINDROS. I'm telling you the fans would be hoping for a
tie. hoping no one scores in overtime. Now tell me honestly,
w dn't you love to see MARIO going in on PATRICK ROY? I
ass so! I know I would. MONTREAL FORUM, LEMIEUX
against ROY. tell me there's anything better.
This can only happin in the regular season, never and I say never
can a STANLEY CUP be decided on in a shootout.
know there is going to be a lot of opposition. One guy said
"That's like having a haseball game decided when tied at the end of
9 innings by a home run contest." That's not true, because we do
have penalty shots in hockey.,
Listen , I'm one of the biggest guys against so much change in
hockey (the absolute worst rule change is the instigator rule, where
every little mask wearing twit is brave now and is waving his stick
in thc face of a Nigger guy because he knows the big guy has to take
it. If the bigger guy drops is gloves, he's gone. That's why we have
those ridiculous scrums after every whistle, pushing and shoving).
Anyhow, I don't like change, but folks, we got to change with the
times, check the crowds around the league. We got some trouble
spots and we have to get the crow(T!' going again, and shootouts
would help.
1 want you to think hack to the time somebody came up with the
idea of the designated hitter for haseball. Imagine a ridiculous rule
of a guy hitting for the pitcher. Can you imagine the crics over that
one? One of the most sorriest sight in sports is to see a pitcher come
to the plate and sec him stand there, never taking the hat off his
shoulder; hoping to strike out to get it over with. Now 1 want you to
remember PAUL MOLITOR at the plate as designated hitter for
the BLUE JAYS. Think of a pitcher strolling up to strike out on
purpose to the glorious sight of PAUL
MOLITOR striking a home run. Now
be honest, what would you rather sec. I
guess so! But remember all the
controversy? I remember one guy saying
"but it takes all the thinking away from a
baseball manager out of the game."
Sure. what would you rather see
MOLITOR crashing a triple or a
manager thinking?"
Shootouts are coming folks, whether
, we like it or not, it's just a matter of time.
