Hay
Township
contest set
ZURICH - The Hay Town-
ship Sesquicentennial Steer-
ing Committee would like to
announce a contest to come
up with a theme name for our
celebrations in 1996. This slo-
gan will appear on billboards,
posters, etc. to promote our
activities.
The contest is open to all
residents of the township,
young and old. We are offer-
ing $50 to the person who
submits the winning slogan.
In case of a tie (i.e. two or
more people submitting the
same slogan), the winner's
name will be drawn from
among them.
It might seem like a long
way off until 1996, but the
committee would like to have
a name now for the year so
that there is a bright, catchy
way to identify our celebra-
tions. This will allow time for
design and development of
the slogan and residents will
become familiar with it.
The deadline for submis-
sion of ideas is May 1, 1994.
Please send or drop it off at
the Hay Township office.

CENTRALIA - Where has all
the snow gone? Many of us in the
area have found it seeping into our
basements, and are thankful for
cooler temperatures to slow the
swollen creeks. Spring has not yet
arrived in Centralia, but let me
know if you see a robin on your
lawn one day soon.
In the Christian community,
we're looking forward to spring
and Easter, a time of renewal and
rebirth. On Sunday Reverend
Claire Geddes set the stage with
his sermon entitled "Words from
the Cross: First Word".
Between now and Easter, the
Sunday School is providing labels
to place on cans for Lenten
offerings. If you'd like to obtain a
label, talk to one of the Sunday
school teachers.
June and Bill Essery welcomed
Ruth Ann and Matt Pickett home
for the weekend. Matt was taking a
break from his teaching studies at
Dalhousie University in Halifax.
Saturday, was a very special day
for Anna and Gerritt Zandbergen.
Family and friends gathered at
their home to celebrate their 40th
wedding
