Exeter mayor Jack Delbridge mockingly chastised fellow councillors for giving them- selves a 33 percent raise in pay while he was on holidays in Florida. They upped the may- or's salary by only 27 percent. William Amos of Parkhill is the new chairman of the Ausa- ble Bayfield Conservation Au- thority. Employees of the Exeter divi- sion of Ontario Hydro went on a one day rotating strike this week. The second annual Open House at Centralia College of Agricultural Technology will be held this week. The theme is, "More Bread with Ed(ucation)." Tom Russell of Shipka shot a 45 pound wolf in Stephen town- ship, south of Shipka this week. Sliced bread sells for 21 cents a loaf at Darling's IGA in Exet- er and Betty and Art's in Grand Bend. Red sockeye salmon goes for 59 cents a half pound tin. Carey Joynt of Hensall, a for- mer Exeter high school student and now a medical student at the University of Western Onta- rio was the first prize winner as a baritone soloist at the Kiwanis Music Festival at Massey Hall in Toronto. Exeter's sixth Red Cross blood donor clinic attracted 97 donors. There were 63 men and 34 women. Zurich suffered a severe fire Wednesday when the large Kalbfleisch planing mill was entirely wiped out and large piles of lumber were destroyed. Loss was listed at close to $75,000. The previously postponed Kirkton skating carnival was held Friday night with a large crowd in attendance. Some of the winners were Lois Sawyer, Jack Urquhart. Ray Morrison, Donna Massey, Grant Mills, Georgia Burgin and Harold Burgin. The Exeter Flyers defeated the Seaforth Beavers 12-8 with George Shaw `storing four times. The roll call was taken and an- swered by seven members with a scripture verse on "Salvation". The group decided to support a Spanish missionary, the Needy. Home team McGillivray Central Public managed to win a special exhibition game against Stephen Central last Friday at lunch.
