DPI hit the trails
The Exeter OPP are now patrolling local trails and villages on
snowmobiles borrowed from the Wingham detachment. Con-
stables Ray Jack (seated) and Liam Brennan are two of those
looking for violations.
Snowmobiles on patrol
EXETER - To those snowrnohilers using the Hay Swamp trails these past
few days, it must have come as some surprise. The Exeter OPP have bor-
rowed two official snowmobiles from the Wingham detachment and are
checking local snowrnohilers for violations.
Charges have already been laid to several snowmohilers for trespassing,
not having valid trail permits, violating the Liquor License Act, not having
insurance, being under age, speeding, or for just plain careless activity
while snowmohiling.
The OPP warn that the snowmobiles can be out on the trails at any time,
anywhere in the detachment's coverage area. This not only includes trails
in the Hay Swamp, hut also around focal villages, such as Dashwood,
Hensall or Zurich. _
