Generals defence strong, allow one goal in two games
EXETER - Two games played
and only having one goal against
is a good accomplishment for
any team.
Last Wednesday night at the
South Huron Recreation Centre,
the Exeter RSD Midget Gener-
als ran their Ontario Minor
Hockey Association 'CC' round-
robin playoff record to 2-0.
The hosts, paced by the perfor-
mances of brothers Ian and
Adam Jean, beat Forest a whop-
ping 1 1-1. A week earlier, the
Generals beat Dresden 6-0. The
third game is Friday in Lambeth:
Goalie Jason Clay picked up
the win in net for Exeter while
the offense was led by Ian Jean
with his three goals and an assist
while Adam Jean had two goals
and two assists. There linemate,
Chad Gilfillan had a goal and
two assists.
Also scoring for the winners
were Marty DeBruyn with two,
Gavin Snell, Tevor Taylor and
Glenn Hines. Exeter dominated
throughout this game and had
three shorthanded tallies.
Peewees doing well: Backed
by the two goal efforts of Jeff
Campbell and Chad Monteith,
the Legion peewees had little
trouble with visiting Ridgetown
last Wednesday night in Exeter,
winning 7-I.
While Tony Eagleson started
the game in net for Exeter, Jeff
Gooch came on in the third and
made some big saves to main-
tain the peewees cushion.
The toughest shot Eagleson
liad to handle was a high wrist
shot which hit his glove, went
behind him but defenseman
Brian Hayman was able to
knock it away.
Exeter received a balanced
scoring attack as David Mar-
shall, Tyler Bourne and Jason
Grenier also scored.
The hosts moved the puck
very well all night, head -
manning the puck and passing
with a lot of accuracy.
Friday, Chad Dalrymple had two
goals and Greg Geoffrey netted
the other in a 4-3 loss to Lamb-
eth. That is the only loss for the
OMHA
playoffs.

peewees in OMHA playoff ac-
tion thus far.
Saturday Cam Dougall had a
goal and an assist in a 4-4 draw
with Dresden. Also scoring for
Exeter were Dalrymple, Matt
Szabo and Marshall.
Bantams win first: After los-
ing four playoff games in a row,
the Exeter bantam Legionnaires
got hack in the winning track
Sunday with a big 7-2 win over
visiting Dresden.
The tables were certainly
turned here as, the night before,
host Dresden won 4-1.
In Sunday's game, Dave Far-
,,quhar led the winners with two
goals and three assists while Jeff
MacLean had two goals and set
up another. Also scoring were
Rob Lynn, Brian Richardson
and Ryan Beckett. Jeff Sararas,
Gavin Poole and Geoff Maver
all had two assists each.
Saturday saw MacLean score
the lone goal from Farquhar and
Richardson. Friday in Lambeth,
Exeter came up short in a close
3-2 game as Poole and Maver
scored with two assists for
MacLean.
Broncos split weekend: Three
games last week for the Exeter
Atom' Broncos ended with a
win, a tie and a loss.
Last Wednesday, host Lamb-
eth scored on a bouncing shot
with 5:47 left in the game to win
4-3. In that one, Ben Rader had
two goals for Exeter with the
other from Brandon Martin.
Mike Seip and Ryan Groot each
had two assists.
Exeter goalie Ryan Sullivan
had a strong game allowing just
one goal in a 1-1 draw with
Dresden on Saturday. Scoring
for visiting Exeter was Mark Bi-
linsky as Seip and Craig Over-
holt had the assists.
Once again Sullivan had to
come up big between the pipes
as he allowed just one goal on
Sunday in a 2-1 win over Ridge -
town.
The Broncos trailed 1-0 but
powerplay goals by Groot and
Seip made the difference.
