EXETER - There was a fight,
thtre was a goalie ejected from the
tournament and there was even a
referee who was bumped.
This past weekend 16 teams
gathered at the South Huron Recre-
ation Centre for some very exciting
hockey. But this was the Oldtimers
version as the local vintage icers
hosted the Exeter Molting Hawks
Oldtimers Hockey Tournament.
Winning the Coors Division was
the Lucan Flyers who went unde-
feated in round-robin play and
then, in the final, beat Forest 4-2.
In the round-robin format, the Fly-
ers beat Lansing 3-1, topped Hen-
sall 5-4 and beat Forest 4-2.
Bill Bannerman led the Flyers -in
the final as he fired a pair of goals
while Mike Wraith and Lee Rich-
ards also connected. Forest's Bill
Fraser was given a double minor
late in the no body contact game
and that set up Bannerman's power-
play tally.
Fraser bumped the referee but
was not ejected. In this game, Lu -
can's Al Gates, a former Exeter
Mohawks, was hit in the eye with a
puck and had to leave the game for
several minutes.
The four -division tournament
which started Friday night and
wrapped up on Sunday, saw a fight
`in the final round-robin game late
Sunday. A player from St. Thomas
