Geiger nets .two against St. Marys
EXETER - The South Huron Dis-
trict High School Panthers hockey
team are having quite the battle
with St. M4i-ys in the Huron -Perth
Conference this year.
Last Tuesday at the South Huron
Recreation Centre, the host Pan-
thers skated to a fairly easy 5-2
win. However, the last time the two
met, back on November 17, St.
guys won 6-2. In the only other
meeting of the two teams, South
Huron won 8-3.
On Tuesday, the Panthers re-

Russell, Briggs will represent Zurich Association

ZURICH - Jim Russell and Frank
Briggs will represent the Zurich
Five Pin Bowlers' Association in
the Hiram Walker Special Old On-
tario High -Low Doubles Champi-
onships February 26 at Kitchener.
Russell, with 141 pins over his
average, and Briggs, with 87 pins
over, from the Tuesday night men's
league bion the Special Old Zurich
. Association three game rolloff Sun-
day with 228 combined pins over at
Zurich Town and Country lanes.
The team of Bev Cregan and
Theresa McCann from the Monday
ladies league finished second with
167 pins over their combined aver-
ages.

The Special Old Ontario winning
team will represent the Ontario
Five Pin Bowlers' Association
(O.F.P.B.A.) in the Special Old Na-
tional Championships April 23 in
Ottawa.

Doubles House Rounds has ended.
This year advancing to the next
round held in Kitchener on Febru-
ary 26, are Cheryl Smith and Tina
G;hson, with a great team effort of
139 pins over their team average.
Second place is Don Watt and Gary
Melvin with a 113 pins over their
average.
There was a super team effort
from Lynn Stith and Louise Su-
therland for the third year in a row
as being partners. Fourth was a tie
decided by a flip of a coin. Con-
gratuations to Evelyn Smith and
Wayne Smith.

THE STUDY
The Ministry of Transportation has initiated a study to replace
the Highway 23 bridge at Medway Creek and the Elginfield
Drain, located 0.8 km north of the junction of Highway 23 and
Highway 7. -

Subject to the final outcome of the study, the Ministry is propos-
ing to:
- remove the existing bridge and construct a single -lane signal-
izeddetour along the west side of the highway to temporarily
rout traffic around the work area;
- construct a new bridge Trrtd-t proaches, including paved ap-
proach shoulders, catchbasins at all four approach corners, bar-
rier curb and single beam guide rail; and
re ore and re -grade adjacent highway drainage ditches as re-
ed upon removal of the roadside detour.
HE PROCESS
This study will follow an approved planning process with the op-
portunity for public input throughout. Upon completion of the
study, a report will be available for public review and comment.
Another notice will be published at that time.
NOTE: This project is being considered for reduced documenta-
tion. If the study shows that this project will not result in
any significant detrimental environmental effects, then it
will not be necessary to prepare an Environmental
Study Report. Public notice of this decision will be pro-
vided.

Medway Creek Bridge Replacement
THE STUDY
The Ministry of Transportation has initiated a study to replace
the Highway 23 bridge at Medway Creek and the Elginfield
Drain, located 0.8 km north of the junction of Highway 23 and
Highway 7. -

Subject to the final outcome of the study, the Ministry is propos-
ing to:
- remove the existing bridge and construct a single -lane signal-
izeddetour along the west side of the highway to temporarily
rout traffic around the work area;
- construct a new bridge Trrtd-t proaches, including paved ap-
proach shoulders, catchbasins at all four approach corners, bar-
rier curb and single beam guide rail; and
re ore and re -grade adjacent highway drainage ditches as re-
ed upon removal of the roadside detour.
HE PROCESS
This study will follow an approved planning process with the op-
portunity for public input throughout. Upon completion of the
study, a report will be available for public review and comment.
Another notice will be published at that time.
NOTE: This project is being considered for reduced documenta-
tion. If the study shows that this project will not result in
any significant detrimental environmental effects, then it
will not be necessary to prepare an Environmental
Study Report. Public notice of this decision will be pro-
vided.
