A re- cent study found that men with the highest intake of calcium (around 1300 mg per day) had the low- est risk of kidney stones.... actually 34% lower. No results were available for women. By the way, when you are reading the package label for the amount of calcium in the product, remember to look for elemental calcium. Some- times the label will indicate 650 mg of Calcium Gluconate for example but that translates into only 65 mg. of elemental calcium. By the way, when is the best time to take your calcium supplement? For best absorption, calcium needs an acid environment, so with meals would be best. People who take certain Parkinson's Disease medications, may experi- ence a reduced effect of their nnedicathy because certain foods reduce absorption of the medication. Dietary protein can do this. It is best to take the medication with small meals and try to spread protein intake throughout the day in even amounts.
