Blue Water Rest Home Sing -song in Hensafl; HENSALL - As Christmas draws closer, residents at Queensway are both busy and excited. Many peo- ple are still involved in daily activi- ties such as fun and fitness, but lately the fun has been all about Christmas. Joyce Pepper played the piano for the Christmas sing -song on Monday. Tuesday was an excep- tional day: a special guest came to visit. Rev. Gerald Wilson from Grand Bend entertained us with a fantastic ventriloquist show. Every- one enjoyed the humour of the show, yet appreciated the important message he had to give on the true meaning of Christmas. Later in the evening, the Christian Reformed Singers put on a musical program, which included some beautiful Dutch selections. Supper club members of the month met on Thursday night for delicious Italian cuisine, consisting of lasagna and garlic bread. The week ended with more talented en- tertainment. Peter Snell's students from Hensall Public School arrived at Queensway to put on a Christ- mas program. The students sang, out hand -made Christmas cards to danced and played the piano. Tammy Antaya wel- comed all diners, and informed them of upcoming events. Susan Hemmingway was the 50/50 win- ner. A musical program was present- ed by students of Zurich Public School. Stephanie Erb, Lindsay Ha- berer, Dana Thiel and Julia Finlay and Principal Bill Black accompa- nied by guitar led in a sing -song of Christmas carols, much to the en- joyment of the diners. Progressive euchre followed: Good old-fashioned spirit in Zurich ZURICH - Last Monday after- noon the residents of Blue Water Rest Home gathered in the auditori- um to watch the video "Miracle on 34th Street". The movie helped to spread more of that good old fash- ioned Christmas spirit throughout the Home. Tuesday Doreen Dougherty visit- ed the Home with her collection of home-made potpourri and cloth gift bags. Many residents and staff en- joyed perusing her wares and se- lecting that unusual gift. A prelude of musical selections by Phyllis Deichert was followed by Della Gascho's Christmas reading. A Christmas -skit with Mary Lou Denomme as commentator, Gertie Fleischauer (grandmother), Lau- rene Comveau (reindeer), Grace Marin (Rudolph), Marilee Ayotte (bad little boy), Cecelia Farwell (good little boy) and Della Gascho (good old Santa Claus) was well re- ceived by the residents. Gerrie was chairperson and coordinated '-the evening's performance. Santa Claus distributed gifts of kleenex holders for the ladies and calendars for the gentlemen. After rounds of carols Eleanor Riley and Ann Flaxbeiid served refreshments to the reside and guests. Last Wednesday evening ma y residents gathered in the auditorium to wish Greta Erb a very happy 80th birthday. Grandchildren, Lee Anne and Robert Erb helped the nurses serve cake and ice cream to the residents and their friends. • Pastor Larry Stojkovic, Zion Lu- theran Church, Dashwood conduct- ed Thursday afternoon Chapel Ser- vice. Fr. Matthias Wronski, St. Boniface Church, Zurich celebrated Mass. Sunday afternoon Zurich Opti- mist members Nick/Chris Little- child, Sylvia/Ken Mittelholtz, John/ Dianne Wilds, Donna Klopp and Barb Jeffrey and their children vis- ited the Home and sang for the resi- dents. After carolling Santa Claus passed out clementine oranges for the residents to enjoy. While the group was gathering in the auditori- um, Rose Meurer, a resident at the Home played carols for the resi- dents. Sunday evening Rev. Don Robin- son and his United Church choir members from Brucefield and Kip - pen visited the Horne and sang car- rols.
