--EXETER - Just like the juniors
did a week -earlier, the South Huron
District High School senior Pan-
thers won the second game at their
own basketball tournament.
However, unlike the juniors, the
seniors failed to win the consola-
tion title of the eight -team annual
event, losing a whopping 106-50 to
the North Middlesex Marauders.
In the junior tournament, the
younger Panthers won their second
game in a very close decision. Sat-
urday, the seniors edged Petrolia's
Lambton Central 49-46 to advance
to the consolation final.
St. Thomas' St. Joeseph's had lit-
tle trouble winning the tournament
as they beat London Regina Mundi
91-42.

thers' Greg Agnew hit a three -
pointer just 15 seconds into the
game but the Marauders' quickly
put on a full -court pressing defense
which the hosts could not break.
At the end of the first quarter the
Marauders had a huge 35-7 lead
and at the half were ahead 48-27.
The Panthers played well in the
second quarter as guard Brian
McAllister stole the bail. and went
in for two points and added two
more on a nice finger roll.
McAllister hit a three -pointer ear-
ly in the third quarter and pulled
South Huron to within 18 but the
press went on again and it was 76-
39 after three quarters.
Former Panther Ryan Stuart, now
playing for the Marauders hit a
three -pointer to put North Middles-
ex past the 100 -point mark. Mark
Cadman led the winners with 21
points while McAllister and Wayne
Robinson had 11 each for the Pan-
thers.
Come -from -behind: South Hu-
ron trailed Lambton Central Lanc-
ers 13-3 early in the game but Rob-
inson took over, muscling his way
to the basket for two points and hit-
ting a three -pointer to get the hosts
back into the game.
With 34 seconds left in the first
half, McAllister took a long pass to
the hoop and the Panthers were
only down by three. With the help
:of some good defence by Simon
inagy,,f oath Jr{ur'on went OW

Hodgson lifts hosts
to win over Madill
EXETER - A pair of Jason Hodgson goals, one of them shorthanded lift-
ed the South Huron District High School ice hockey Panthers to a 5-2 win
over visiting Wingham F.E. Madill Mustangs last Tuesday afternoon.
After a pair of losses in their fust two Huron Conference league, the
Panthers are now 1-2 which they will take to Clinton on Friday when they
face the very tough Centralliuron Redmen.
Tuesday at the South Huron Recreation Centre, the hosts jumped into a
big 3-0 lead after two periods on goals from Jeff McLean, Rob Kobayashi
and defenseman Paddy Morrissey.
McLean's goal came on a scramble around the Mustangs' net and Ko-
bayashi was a low blast about six inches off the ice which went into the
corner.
Morrissey connected when he shot from the point and the puck seemed
to deflect. f gaotriscpe which made the score 3-0.

Panthers' forward Jeff MacLaren was ejected and given a five•minute
checking -from -behind penalty which enabled the Mustangs' Ryan Gallag-
.sr to wore on the powerplay with five seconds left in the second period.
But South Huron's Trevor Taylor and Chris McDonald did a good job
killing off the rest of the penalty. Goalie Darren Kints made the first stop
but couldn't keep Jason McDonald from clicking with the second Mus-
tangs' goal.
With 5:30 left in the game, Hodgson went in alone, beat a defenseman
and backhanded it for his second of the game. This one came shorthanded
as South Huron's Derek Beckett was in the penalty box.
He was given a five-minute infraction after he got his stick up high on a
Mustangs' player who had cross-checked Panthers' forward Ben Geiger
very hard above the shoulders.
