However, unlike the juniors, the seniors failed to win the consola- tion title of the eight -team annual event, losing a whopping 106-50 to the North Middlesex Marauders. In the junior tournament, the younger Panthers won their second game in a very close decision. Sat- urday, the seniors edged Petrolia's Lambton Central 49-46 to advance to the consolation final. St. Thomas' St. Joeseph's had lit- tle trouble winning the tournament as they beat London Regina Mundi 91-42. Against the Marauders, the Pan- thers' Greg Agnew hit a three - pointer just 15 seconds into the game but the Marauders' quickly put on a full -court pressing defense which the hosts could not break. At the end of the first quarter the Marauders had a huge 35-7 lead and at the half were ahead 48-27. The Panthers played well in the second quarter as guard Brian McAllister stole the bail. and went in for two points and added two more on a nice finger roll. McAllister hit a three -pointer ear- ly in the third quarter and pulled South Huron to within 18 but the press went on again and it was 76- 39 after three quarters. Former Panther Ryan Stuart, now playing for the Marauders hit a three -pointer to put North Middles- ex past the 100 -point mark. Mark Cadman led the winners with 21 points while McAllister and Wayne Robinson had 11 each for the Pan- thers. Come -from -behind: South Hu- ron trailed Lambton Central Lanc- ers 13-3 early in the game but Rob- inson took over, muscling his way to the basket for two points and hit- ting a three -pointer to get the hosts back into the game. With 34 seconds left in the first half, McAllister took a long pass to the hoop and the Panthers were only down by three. Hodgson lifts hosts to win over Madill EXETER - A pair of Jason Hodgson goals, one of them shorthanded lift- ed the South Huron District High School ice hockey Panthers to a 5-2 win over visiting Wingham F.E. Madill Mustangs last Tuesday afternoon. After a pair of losses in their fust two Huron Conference league, the Panthers are now 1-2 which they will take to Clinton on Friday when they face the very tough Centralliuron Redmen. Tuesday at the South Huron Recreation Centre, the hosts jumped into a big 3-0 lead after two periods on goals from Jeff McLean, Rob Kobayashi and defenseman Paddy Morrissey. McLean's goal came on a scramble around the Mustangs' net and Ko- bayashi was a low blast about six inches off the ice which went into the corner. Panthers' forward Jeff MacLaren was ejected and given a five•minute checking -from -behind penalty which enabled the Mustangs' Ryan Gallag- .sr to wore on the powerplay with five seconds left in the second period. But South Huron's Trevor Taylor and Chris McDonald did a good job killing off the rest of the penalty. Goalie Darren Kints made the first stop but couldn't keep Jason McDonald from clicking with the second Mus- tangs' goal. With 5:30 left in the game, Hodgson went in alone, beat a defenseman and backhanded it for his second of the game. This one came shorthanded as South Huron's Derek Beckett was in the penalty box. He was given a five-minute infraction after he got his stick up high on a Mustangs' player who had cross-checked Panthers' forward Ben Geiger very hard above the shoulders. A F.E.
