HENSALI. - The Mensal' Horti-
cultural' Society met Monday night
for theft Christmas meeting. After a
pot luck dinner, the general meet-
ing commenced. President Cathy
Mann opened the meeting with a
Christmas poem, secretary Diane
Gerstenkbrn road the minutes of the
last meeting. The minutes were
passed of read. Founding member,
Eileen Rlannie was then presented
*with a Stroll, for her years of hard
worit,w the society. The winners
of :the Thanksgiving contest were
then giien their prizes and certifi-
cates.
Dian Gerstenkom introduced
guest speaker, Mario Levesque, Le-
vesque owns All -Pro Lawn and
Garden, he is a graduate of the
ABM program at Centralia College
and mended the Niagara Parks
Commission School of Horticul-
ture. Levesque spoke on the uses
and benefits of low -maintenance
landscapi$g. After a slide presenta-
tion, Sybil Schaufler thanked the
speaker.
Jenny 1 Kipfer conducted the
draws. ) ev. Henry Annen did the
installattn of the new directors as
followsi Marg Upshall, Inge Mow
at, Janeth Sangster, Mary Kinsman
and Donna Tannahill. The new ex-
ecutive were also presented: Presi-
dent Cathy Mann, secretary Diane
Oerstenkom, Ann Overweil, San-
dra Turner, Bonnie Gould, Marg
Cale, Luanne Phair, Sybil Sclmu-
fier, sid Millie Dupuis. Cathy
Mann then closed the meeting with
a poen. A brief executive meeting

protrams. There will be something

The dining program has been
treated by Tammy Antaya. Sing
sgtgs were led by Grant Mills and
Pit Skinner. Keyboard players for
November were Josie Ryckman,
Jean Hodgert, Maxine Sereda, and
Don Stuart.
,Draw prizes were won by the fol-
lowing people: Josie Ryckman,
Jenny Harris. Anne DeRyk, Stewart
Miner, Enna Scpffield, Len
McNaughton, Mildred Thomson,
Ira Johns, Bea Tate, and Betty
Humphreys.
On November 9 for Remem-
brance.Day Greg Pfaff spoke about
the Poppy, War Memories, statis-
tics for. those men/women who had
died in previous wars, and how mo-
nies arc spent with the poppy
Antaya ntaya also read a heart
warming poem entitled "Wear
Your tppy, Son". Jean Hodgert, Ray C n. and Ivan Norris treated
the seniors to toe -tapping music.
Happy Birthday was sung to
those trlovember birthdays - Len
McNat1[hton, Olga Davis, Allan
Buswell, Don Stuart. and Georgina
Engler.
Several poems were read by An
taya throughout November, and
sonic rousing card games and crok
rook; are played following the din-
ners.
There will be no Dining for Sen-
iors on December 28 but the pro -
pant will be back again on January
4.

Thursday, December 16, Hensall
United Church. The programme be-
gins at 10:00 a.m. with foot care
(minimal charge). This is followed
by lunch and an afternoon of enter-
tainment. There will be a Christmas
carol sing -song, the Swinging Sen-
fors have promised to drop by and
share some cheer, and rumour has
it the Great White North may send
a few visitors, too. The cost is
$4.00 per person for lunch and ac-
tivities. Please call by Monday (be-
fore noon) to reserve - Mrs. Marga-

Town & Country Homemakers of-

Tammy Antaya.
Members of Carmel Presbyterian
Church are reminded of the Com-
munion service on December 12 at
9:45 a.m.
.At Hensel) United Church, the
asocond candle of Advent was lit by
Jenne Rowcliffe, on December 5.
'elite White Gift Service will be held
on December 12.
The Annual Hensall Christmas
Tree Lighting Ceremony was held
Sunday, December 5. Many people
came out to see the lights, and join
in the festivities. Members of the
Hensel) Public School were on
hand to entertain with a selection of,
songs. With the tree ht, songs sung
and a spiritual message from Rev.
Mark Gaskin, the crowd joined in
song to welcome Santa himself
who arrived on the scene in the
Hensel) Fire Truck. Folks also had
the opportunity to tour the Village's
decorated homes, on an old-
fashioned hay ride sponsored by
the Hensall Tinker Tots Nursery
School. The school would like to
thank Hyde i3rothers Farm Equip-
ment for their contribution to the
success of the rides. Thank you
also, to all those who joined in the
rides.
The crowd made its way to the
Hensel) Arena for refreshments,
and free skating. The evening was a
true success. The Hensel) Village
Council and staff wish to extend
their sincere Christmas wishes.

idea of relocating the Nursery
School to the Hensall Public
School. Questions and information
should be directed to school presi-
dent Karen Jblly, 262-2307. Input
on this decision is eagerly sought
