International event
WINGHAM • The Exeter RSD Generals are headed to the international
/Midget Silver Stick Tournament January 6-9 in Mooretown.
Following a very impressive showing at the regional event in Wingham
last week, the Generals were invited to go to the main event.despite not
winning the 'A' final in Wingham.
Exeter won three straight games before losing a 2-1 decision to Seaforth
which put them into the 'B' side where they beat Wingham 1.0.
In the 'Ii' final, there was no scoring in the very fast paced game until
3;25 of the third period when Marty DeBruyn scored from Mark Bell and
Chris McDonald. Darren Kints played well in net earning the shutout.
The Generals' coaching staff chose as their three stars of the game; D^-•-
Bruyn, Kints and Matt Godbolt.
Last Tuesday, Exeter opened with a 6-3 win aver Mitchell on a pair of
goals by -Ben Armstrong with one each to Trevor Taylor, McDonald, De-
Bruyn and Adam Jean. Stars of the Game were Adam Jean, Taylor and
Kints.
It was 3.0 over Hanover in the second game as Kints had the shutout.
Armstrong, Adam Jean and Brent Gibson scored for the winners as God -
bolt, Chad Gilfitlan and Artnstrong were the three stars. Armstrong suf-
fered a concussion and did not play the rest of the tournament.
Adam Jean netted two goals in a 4-1 win over Wingham in the Generals
third game as McDonald and DeBruyn also scored. Three stars were Ian
Jean, Jim Dietrich and Adam Jean,
The only 1089 of the tournament for the Generals was a 2-1 decision 10
;s oaforth in which McDonald had the Ione goal. Kints played another
otrung game between the pipes.
Three stars in that one were Kints, McDonald and Gilftllan.
